Thought to bring out more the DETAILS and the TEXTURE... Steps were:
Layer one - pull the featers out and clean the imperfections
Layer two - add a"spicify" tone
Layer three - slowly change texture to a more palatable one

Layer 4 - create a silver foil framing and after a few hours - DONE ! Enjoy !
The final result is ::

I did try, cropped and sharpened. But I think the bird is quite out of focus to start with.
