Hi everyone!

What an interesting week. The weather has been crazy and it started off with tons of rain and flooding. More than once I was outside getting pelted with rain or snow and trying to keep my M8 as dry as possible. I used a whole variety of lenses this week, so I"ll mention them as we go along.

N.227 - This was probably the worst day weather-wise, at least for my camera. The rain was coming down heavier than a drizzle and being whipped around by strong wind. If I stood with my back to it I could keep my camera dry, but facing into the wind got me and my beloved M8 pretty darn wet. I'm not sure why I thought it was a good idea to walk out onto a pier, but I'm sure glad I did... Luckily, Seagulls don't mind rain... LOL!

N.228 - Rain and mist make for some outstanding colors when it comes to photography (which is why rain should never stop you!)... I had to go to DMV (what fun) to renew my license and my husband took the day off from work so he could renew his too. We took a totally new way home so I could find a photo, and ended up on the strange road with lots of broken down trucks, old houses and amazing graffiti-laden fences (I'll be going back there). The colors of this old work truck caught my eye...

N.229 - Thursday I was hoping for snow, but out here on Long Island it just rained and rained all day... a constant steady downpour. There's a big state park not far from where I live that I've heard might be closing (sad!) because of state budget problems, so I wanted to go down and take some photos. The picnic area was flooded pretty badly.

N.230 - Finally some snow again! I don't think I know anyone happy about it except me at this point. Maybe I should move to Vancouver? After shoveling and snow-blowing, I grabbed my camera and went out to shoot and getting to my first destination realized the battery was dead! I had to drive all the way home and get a new battery and then get back there again. My own fault for not checking!

N.231 - I recently got a hold of my dad's old film camera (Olympus) and have been running film through it, so my husband, daughter and her friend were more than happy to venture out for a photo afternoon. We drove up onto the north shore and took a nice leisurely drive through areas we've never been to. I've never really been in Centerport, but there was this cool little bridge and this odd artistic crane...

(btw, this photo is from the M8, but I did finish up the film and developed it Saturday night... will hopefully scan it later today!)

N.232 - Yesterday I slept late and my family was busy with other things, so I got on the internet to research where I might go to take some photos for the day. As you saw by my other post, I found a Fotomat (who knew any of them were still standing) and this amazing old Gas Station that has been restored. From what I've read, local inmates from the prison maintain it. I wish more communities would restore these old buildings instead of just letting them rot away...

N.233 - Today! - I haven't made a snowman yet this year, so I figured it was about time... LOL! Seriously, I've had this idea for a while and decided I better do it today before all the snow melts away...

Thanks so much for following along and looking everyone! This project has truly become quite an adventure, if not an obsession. I really love trying to be creative each and every day!

Terrific series. I think the most intriguing for me is # 3. Looks like the tables are isolated in a way as to give a tilt-shift miniature effect. Not sure if that was the effect you were trying for but the middle of the frame is just very isolated from the rest of the frame (in a good way).

Amy,

The first and the third are probably some of your best shots that I've seen so far. Especially #3, for me, with all the poetry it projects, is a super shot. I also like the first image of the old garage very much. I think this will be my next lens (but the garage is another story :) ).

All the best,
Ece

Amy,

I have enjoyed all your PADs but this is the best series yet. All the photos are wall hangers, but 1,3,5 are just stunning. Bad weather seems to bring out the best in you.

Cheers
Chris

I am always blown away by your work, and just had to reply to let you know!

Hope you don't mind me asking, but what software do you use for RAW developing? I'm trying to figure out if I like Adobe or C1 better (both are new to me and quite a challenge).

thanks

Just magical Amy, a real treat. I'm only listing photos to tell you my favourites, but they are all beautiful. Keep up the superb work!
Thanks so much Peter... I think #4 is my favorite of this set. It's funny because in-theory I love black and white photography, but I seem to have gone more with color for my PAD photos (generally)... which is interesting!
