I shot this the first night I got my 1D and I printed an 8 x 10 and gave it to John Zimmerman (the skater in the photo) the next night. He really liked the shot.

Did You use a camera with telekonverter or a spotting scope?
Have done any processing of the picture or is it an image fresh from camera.

The sky is very blue.

Go to http://www.espn.com and click on the "PHOTOS: Saturday" tab, the opening image of the gallery. It will only be up for the remainder of Sunday.

The photo itself isn't so amazing, but (via the big TV screen in the background) I almost managed to take a picture of myself taking a picture of the play.

I'm a little out of the frame though.

Hi Otto,

I used the EOS-1D with Canon's 100-400IS at 400mm. Adjusted levels & UltraSharpen Pro. Just a normal Colorado blue sky...
