B & H & 1D Mk 4

With so many finding them in stock, and dealers willing to sell to first come first serve not sure I want to pre order, If your not in the first round, they charge you and you have to wait.

I don't see anywhere on their website that allows preorders tonight. Do you have to phone to get on the preorder list?

Dave

Not sure but from what I have been reading is second shipments are 2 weeks after 1st shipment. It seems there is no pattern on how many stores get. Some smaller stores get half a dozen, the same as larger chains.

I am hoping this is not correct and Canon will get the stock up quickly.

Not exactly true...

I had a IXY 800 IS Japan model (SD700 IS) that I purchased in Japan and got water damaged on vacation. I took it to the Canon Hawaii dealer. They sent it in to Canon USA state side for an estimate. USA was not able to repair since it was too new of a product (SD 700 IS not released yet). Canon didn't charge me anything, not even shipping.

The general attitude of Canon is that they will repair non USA purchase as long as it is a legitamate overseas purchase. I bought many Canon products in Japan and Canon USA honors the warranty (I had 1 free sensor cleaning during warranty period).
... which means shipping it halfway around the world for warranty problems.

I heard that B&H will be shipping some 1DmarkIV's today. I don't know how many they received or if they are all spoken for or not. Sorry, I don't have any other details.

I called a couple hours ago and they told me it would be at least 3 weeks, I get tired of the run around from them sometimes.

How can they ship anything if they didn't take pre-orders?
Nothing on the floor either...
Yup, I don't understand them.

Perhaps commercial accounts are handled differently?? If you're a large news agency you probably have a B&H account rep and maybe through that rep you can place an order. I'm not saying this is what happened but it sounds like a reasonable explanation.

just called and they are now taking pre-orders. i don't know how long this will last though so grab your chance if you want to..

You are right. Further reading in their site state:

Special consideration will be given for contracts, substantial requests for quotes and high volume bids.

So, there's the "special consideration".

Plus, it looks some people is getting preorders now.

I don't want to pre-order, I want to walk in the store and get it. So I guess I wil have to wait.
