Well, after the thread I posted asking who was waiting for the next 5D iteration, I just ordered a 5D Mark II. Probably because I ended up selling my 5D, and am now full frame-less and feeling the pain! The free overnight delivery from B&H didn't hurt any. I got a few accessories as well, like a second battery, a remote trigger, a Rode Stereo VideoMic, and Final Cut Pro Express to edit the video. Not sure about the Rode mic, but I've read good things about it here, and I do think I'll be at least attempting quality video.

I've got 6 lenses to potentially micro-adjust. Any thoughts on how long it might take me to accomplish that?

Anyway, I'm like a little kid, so excited!

Congratulations on your new purchase. All my prime and zoom lenses were spot on with the 5D MK ll so micro adjustments were not necessary. My 100mm 2.8 macro lens is turning out to be a superb portrait lens.

Good luck with your new camera. It is going to change your wonderful world of photography.

I know that almost no one will care at this point, but my new 5D Mark II focuses perfectly with no need for Micro-Adjust. I was concerned about that, but it turns out it there was no need for concern. All of my lenses focus perfectly, which I cannot say for the 5D I had. It's nice to know that the adjustment is there if ever needed, though. The resolution on this thing is spectacular. I could not be happier. This was a great Christmas present to myself :-)

Great stuff, I love mine and there has been no need at all for micro adjust. My five lenses (all canon)...perfect. ENJOY.

Glad to hear it. I was surprised when my 5DII performed AF perfectly with my 4 lenses. Even my 50 1.4 which was inconsistent and hit or miss AF on my XT and 30D suddenly became a solid AF workhorse on the 5DII.

My new toy will be the 16-35 L which I should receive on Monday!

The AF on mine has not required any MA for any of my 7 lenses, and is dead on for Af accuracy. The detail this thing can capture is incredible; you won't regret it.

Congratulations!! I found the 5D Mk II a much sharper camera than my 5D or 40D. I thought it was my lenses before but am now pleasantly surprised. Enjoy!!

It means to accept the consequences of difficult to decide upon alternatives. Gee, the guy is happy. Why rain on his parade?

I actually microadjusted every lens I own. (all 10 of them) from a little (85, 1.2, only 1) to a lot (35 1.4, 9). its more a funciton of the lens than the camera.
its an awesome camera. I was an early adopter, have had mine for a year.

I am primarily a portrait photographer. I know that many people would say that razor sharpness for portraits is not necessarily a requirement, but I would far rather get perfect resolution on capture, and soften as appropriate in post-production, than not have the resolution in the first place. I had been thrilled with the image quality of my 5D, but this thing is even more amazing. I can't say what I think of this camera in sports or action conditions, as I have not used it for that, yet, but since I don't usually do that kind of shooting, I think I've found my perfect imaging tool!

I've checked a dozen lenses on my 5D MK II, only one was not perfect, it turned out to be broken and is in for repair. I'd say its pretty unusual to have to adjust microfocus for a lens unless the lens already has a problem.
