Canon are probably nervous about it's release and rightfully so. I expect a large service team to be on standby at the Winter Olympics. Granted at the beijing Olympics, I amoung other 1D III users had to use their service more than we would have liked. If I was Canon, I'd be quiet too, and make sure everything is top notch before the IV is released.
It's always a big risk to release a new camera before a large world event, so Canon are taking a huge risk, especially given the 1D III issues in Beijing. the recent 7D issues have not helped improve Canon's poor reputation for quality control. 1D III owners really should be given a trade-in/rebate deal.
Lets hope the 1D IV delivers where the III failed. Best of luck to those early adopters/beta testers

Manufacturers often are relatively quiet about releases. In this case, availability may be low for a while since PJs going to the Winter Olympics in Canada will likely get the first camera bodies.
