My daughter had fallen asleep on the couch after a night of dress up fun. This was shot at ISO 800 1/40.

Is there anything I can do to clean up the noise a bit? I have recently switched to RAW only and was wondering if anyone uses any noise reduction software either before or after moving into Lightroom? Thanks

... convert to mono and add a little post-processing
GH1 @1600ISO

But I do like that particular image the way it is...There's a softness to it (and not in a bad way) that lends to the peaceful tone of the shot. So sweet.

WoW!!!
that is an amazing picture.
I love it as it is. The colors and lighting are just exquisite.
I would keep it just the way it is
Perhaps you could get the free Lightroom3 beta from Adobe and experiment.

Very Nice picture. The noise will probably go away in a print.

For Noise reduction I use Noiseware

There is a free edition at the bottom of this page

The free edition is called
Noiseware Community Edition Standalone 2.6 (info)

Have a good one.

I think the shot is great and the noise is not an issue so don't sweat it!

I think it is great the way it is. There is something exquisite about it - especially given the mood of the photo. I actually have that lens on an old AE-1. I should really try it out. Do you have other examples you can post - maybe under different lighting? ... if they are handy that is...

Thanks for posting!

I love me some 50mm .. I pondered the 1.4, but I went for the 20mm 1.7 I may still break down and get the 50 mm 1.4 FD if it really is better than the 1.8
It's not really better in terms of sharpness or contrast, it's just a little faster. The main advantage is that you can get closer to the subject. If I remember correctly, the 1.8 needs around 60cm minimum distance, the 1.4 around 40cm.
