Who is upgrading when the 1Ds comes out?

I will buy it if it hovers around $5000 dollars street price.
Hello everyone,
Well now that the 1Ds is common knowledge I would like to know what
everyone is going to do in terms of upgrades. I am personally
excited about it because this might be my chance to get into the
DSLR world with a used camera from someone who upgrades. So here
is the question: Who is upgrading and from what? I think this
will be a good thing for everyone; for those who want the 1Ds and
can afford it as well as for those who buy the used cameras of
those upgrading as well as the price drop that will possibly occur
on new 1D's and D60's. Let me know what you think.

Not when it comes out , I'll sit out a couple of firmware upgrades , see the availability go up and the price down.

Then I also will have a hell of a job to justify the purchase.

Until than I use my good old D30 and love it !

So maybe somewhere at the end of next year , just after it is discontinued :)

i think you really need to grow up somehwat (actually a lot)

Your messages show that you are in fact a little boy (or girl) who has a really big problem. I know puberty is tough on some and therfor i'll go easy on you.

I would suggest you try to grow up soon as all you accomplished so far is making yourself the dpreview clown of the month. Care to go for the clown of the year title ?

BTW the signature with the Kodak 3600 is the one i think may actually be true

Yes you are right John, but we also must realize that the EOS 1D
is the most bashed digital camera ever made. Very few posters on
this site give it any credit at all. I can't wait for the 1Ds
criticisms.
Really? So far evey single time I've read something about the 1D,
it was a praise... Are you sure we're talking about the same
camera? What don't you like about it?

I love mine, it's the D30 cult that seems to be so threathened by it's very existence.

Note to biggles (smallels?): I got my money the old-fashioned way.
(mugging old ladies ;-)

Larry,

no need to MUG the old ladies, they are grateful and will happily hand over their money if you just... HANG ON! This isn't the "retouching" forum!... ;-) (just kidding , folks!)

BTW, it seems that biggles is the one with no idea about business. I run my own business and I fon't know anyone in business who will sign a blank cheque for anything , doesn't matter how much they want it!

Now, a non-refundable deposit, that is another thing altogether...

Paul,
Will you get yours faster than you got the 1D?
When do you expect it?

Curious if regular folk are going to have as long as a wait as we did on the 1D...guess could be better since we don't have the Olympics to compete with...
Thanks

I don't need more pixels. I'll take 'em if the rest of the features and price are in line.
I need faster AF, and maybe a faster frame rate than my D30.
I'd buy a 1D in a heartbeat if it was a bit less expensive.
I'll likely buy a used 1D when the 1Ds hits the streets.
I need something more: better AF, better Whitebalance, better
color, etc..
That is already available in the current 1D.

Those who really have it don't find the need to flaunt it.

In answer to the post question, I'd like to see nikon's answer. Clearly 11mp full frame is a camera we canlive with for a long time.
How much did you prepay for them ? AFAIK nobody knows the price yet

Caught red handed again ...

1 D60 and some nice Canon glass+ soon to have the 1200mmL.

Paul,

Don't do it. Remember only a fool argues with a fool.
Notice how few people have chosen to "take-you-on" with a matching
display of ostentation, by listing all THEIR impressive/expensive
possessions?

if it doesn't feel good, then I'll pass. If it handles like a 1v, focussing speed and all, then I'll bite. I can actually use the thing to make some money now, and I don't need super-fast burst modes ;)

my system would be my goal. I may need the extra pixels for some work that may be coming my way and the work would pay for the camera in no time. An 11 megapixel 1D might last me for a number of years!

I knew when I bought the D60 that it would be replaced before long but if I can afford to buy the 1Ds and keep the D60 for a backup I will do that instead.

I guess we'll all know more sooner than later.

I've got a 1D now, and will probably upgrade next spring, but I may or may not keep my 1D. Even though I primarily shoot landscape, I've had so much fun with action stuff I'm not sure I want to give up 8 fps.

This has certainly been an interesting thread. I figured that many of the pros might say they would add this to their system and not sell their 1D's. I know that for a sports shooter the 8fps is more important than the 11mp's. I was interested to see the responses because I am really hoping that this new camera will drive some prices down on both new and used DSLR's.
