The idea is pretty simple. If you take a picture do not take a picture of the whole thing. Convert it to Black & White. Put it in the gallery. That's it!

Challenge runs from November 4th (today) to Monday November 16th 9pm GMT

Voting will start straight after, and run till Wednesday November 18th at 9pm GMT.

Even if you have never played before you are strongly encouraged to start playing. This is a fun layed back community.
Please add your name after the title (makes voting easier), and make the image 800 pixels on the long edge, no larger than 200K. Ensure the EXIF data is intact with the date it was taken. Pbase let us run these challenges free on their website, so please respect this by keeping your file size reasonable.

To post a photo in either gallery; just select the gallery of choice from below. On the top of the page you will see "edit this gallery", click on that and it will ask for a password. Enter "kickass" (keep it lower case) and you should be able to make it from there. If you still need assistance, ask and you shall be answered. Sometimes the answer actually helps!

Newbies are totally welcome - Just post here if you need assistance to post images into the gallery or if you are not certain what's going on. We all started off clueless and make the same mistakes. For some guidance on what sort of shots fit what sort of themes, just do a search here on 'challenge' in the subject and browse the past competitions.

Starting gallery is here:

Competition - pictures taken to theme during the entry time (4th to 16th of Nov) with a 4/3 camera

Exhibition - pictures taken to theme- any camera any time

Here is a funky time calculator found by Catman for those who wish to find out what 9pm gmt is locally:

Sounds interesting.

I really do love B&W, there is something about them that sticks in your mind so well. As you know Brent, when there are art contests (state fairs as I recall) a big porportion of the top entries are b&w. I think we still like to use our imaginations and textures seem to show up really well and all sorts of individual reasons I suppose.

So, a HUGE congrats to you on your double slam in the galleries. You really were on the top of your shooting game with some great entries. I will tell everyone else that finished in the top 5 "way to go" too.

So now I'm off to see if I can find some possibilities for the exhibition. Yeehaw!

All is well, I've just not had time and/or motivation for the last couple of challenges.

Looks like you are in the Holiday mood already as well. I am stil mourning the loss of Fall. I will probably be wondering where the holidays went when I finally take off my sack cloth and ashes LOL!

Thanks Shirley!

... and the Exhibition galleries are just looking wonderful!

I am amazed by the some of the entries already! I think everyone is going to have to dig deep into their creative self on this one :-)

Everyone is welcome to participate! Go look at the starting galleries - you can see that we all started not knowing a thing ...

Go and look at the exhibition gallery - maybe leave a comment about what you thought. Then push a picture in yourself... here is the link:

On a fine set of pictures in the last challenge, and on a cracking theme choice.

We've had a bit of a week this week as Julie's father sadly passed away. We had the funeral today which was a comfort I think to her, and certainly was nice to meet a lot of old friends and relations from the past and present.

Anyway, carpe diem everybody....

Kind regards,
Alistair
