Hello everyone. This is my first time posting to any of the DPREVIEW forums, but I just wanted to share some G11 images I have taken over the past few weeks. I purchased a G11 the day they became available at Best Buy, and have been loving it ever since! I've been shooting with Pentax D-SLR's for a little over 3 years, and still use a K20D, which I really like as well. For me, the G11 is a very fun camera to use. I especially like the rotating LCD, exposure compensation knob, the ability to shoot RAW, the built-in ND filter and most everything else about the camera. I don't have any previous experience with the Canon G series cameras, but I personally think that the G11 is a winner. Here's a link to my G11 images, and I'm wide open to any constructive C and C, anything that will help me to be a better photographer. Thank you, and all the best!

Howdy rsteup and welcome to the forum!

Nice shots! Seems to me that the G11 is proving to be an excellent all around performer and great carry-along camera. I just wish my G10 had that wonderful articulated LCD screen!

Thanks for sharing your lovely images. I especially liked what you did with ISO 400 at night. Do you remember some of the exposure values?

Nice images. Also nice to see what a camera and good photographer can do well rather than just looking at the alleged weak points.

This is a good representation of the kind of shots that I typically take so is very useful to me.

I think the G11 would be a definite upgrade from my A80 and even my Fujifilm E900 ;-)

Unfortunately, I don't remember what the exposure values were. If you click on the "more properties" link on each photos pages, the G11 camera EXIF data is available and should contain all that information. Hope this helps! Certainly better than relying on my middle-aged memory! Thanks!

Thank you very much for the welcome and for all the wonderful comments. The G11 is proving to be a wonderful camera to take with me at all times. I don't consider it a replacement for a D-SLR, but a supplement to it, and one that I really enjoy using! I'm very thankful for this forum and for all the great ideas and images that everyone posts, it is an excellent resource for information!

I'll second a lot of posts here that Ray's images are very nice. Good compo, nice PP and a good eye.

I happen to work with Ray and we shoot together now and then. I also have a G11 and if you want to see some more examples you may go here: Ray is more methodical in his process then I am.

Here is Ray with the G11

I happen to think the G11 is a very nice complement to a DSLR. It won't replace one but the tilt/swivel screen make it easy to get shots that would be hard with the big camera. Overall I'm very pleased with it. I had a G9 and the higher ISO shots were not as good as the G11.

Last week, I almost bought a G11, but could not bring myself to drop the $499 when my G10 is still doing a good job.
I'd look at it more optimistically, perhaps $50 out of pocket considering a BestBuy coupon for 10% and the sale of the G10..........Anchorage isn't too far is it? I see BB has 3 locations.......

To the OP......outstanding gallery with great subjects, colors, clarity and composition.....nicely done...

You have an excellent eye for interesting subjects. I wish I had your sense of good composition. It seems you enjoy photography a lot. The only negative thing I will say: My cat is cuter than yours.

I have a G11 too and the best thing about it (For me) is the articulating screen, since I have two dachshunds. I don't have to crawl in the dirt to take photos of the short legged fellows.

Matt, thanks very much for your kind words, but I still think that your much more creative than me! What's up with the picture? Hope your camera still works! Seriously, anyone reading this thread, it is well worth your time to check out mrkyle's G11 images!
