Best Buy G11 negative experience: Do not go to West L.A. Best Buy # 109 on Pico

Someone in Best Buy must be putting the word out. I've now tried 3 different stores in the St. Louis area and I haven't been able to purchase a G11. Two had them in stock but were instructed to not sell. The other store had them in the system but couldn't find them.

I know an employee at the Brentwood store but he's out of town.

Then maybe we, the customers, ones with the money they want, should be voting with our wallets and go where we (our money) are appreciated more. We do not have to buy G11 at Best Buy, We do not have to buy it immediately either. If they want not to sell and want us to wait, then we should show them what we think of it and give them exactly that, not buy any for a while and watch the price plummet due to lack of sales.

Canon & Best Buy, this is not a $5 impulse buy item, this is a $500 item in a poor economy, you should be thinking twice before turning away customers.

Best Buy, there is a number of online sellers that will be happy to take shirt of your back on every opportunity you failed to seize. Buying retail in your store costs me more money and time (by going to store, waiting in line, etc) than going to likes of Amazon where one click, I have checked them out and package will get dropped off on my desk. ONLY reason why I did go to your store was in order to get it earlier .

What is ironic is that I was planning on spending tonight and tomorrow of doing shootout of G11 vs. my G10. I am sure posting of results would not have helped drum up their sales. If they are depending solely on reviewer sites to feed the frenzy they might be in for a wait if one is to judge based on how that worked for "old" model.

Just back with my G11 from different Best Buy where sales person did not have problem being courteous and helpful.

Also, when I asked him what was that 11th release date about he told me he did not hear about that, that they get release dates only for software and video.

I feel general manager of store # 109 in West Los Angeles on Pico and Sawtelle and Best Buy corporate are owing me some explaining.

Would you be throwing a pity party if this hadn't happened to you? Would you instead be doing one of your famous camera size comparos now between the G10 and G11?

Would you have stood up for the little guy or are you just acting like one?

Ha, ha,... you are not the first one. I've got lousy treatment from Best Buy 6 years ago when purchasing camera there... and never purchased any photo stuff, nor computers or TV sets from them ever after. In contrary from their closest competitors and from B@H etc. They do not care for few thousands here or there... It's their problem.

Take it easy. Just vote with your pocket book as you expressed. It works in long run.

You really taught Best Buy something. If you feel mistreated in one store, you'll just take your business ~~elsewhere~~ , er, to another Best Buy branch.

Way to vote with your pocketbook. Way to show them this isn't an impulse buy. Way to show them there is competition out there.

The reality is your impulse was so strong, so out of control, you HAD to have that camera. You couldn't wait to buy it online, you had to have the gratification, so all you're doing is moaning and groaning. I can't wait to buy from that branch on Pico next time I'm in SoCal.

Now, where's that G10, G11 comparision you were under such a deadline for?

After the G10/G11 D40/G11 comparisons have completed, return the G11 to BB for a refund, of course.

I have a G10. I listed for a user in the Fuji forum all the Canon lenses I've rented from a SF photo store.

I refrained from even reading your woe-is-me post for 2 1/2 days.

If you decide to pee in the pool I'm swimming in, expect a comment. You have fouled other threads and your comparo is a legend in your own mind. Now you are complaining about customer service and how you didn't get lunch and how you were not able to begin your G10/G11 comparo.

In this thread it has not been lost on Billx08 or me that there is a high likelihood you will return the G11 after all this bluster.

Canon is waking up re its product line, it would be a shame to miss out and not read or participate in the forum just because you pee in the pool.

go to the web site and order it, select in store pickup, go get it 2 hours later, how difficult can that be?

When I told him Best Buys all over the States are already selling them and S90 before 11th (maybe even that store, see here http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1010&thread=33300540 ) and that I object to different treatment of customers, plus they did tell me that they will put one aside for me when I asked can I get one today, nobody told me no, that I wasted my lunch, mileage, and time thanks to them he just mechanically repeated the story without any sign of actually understanding customer.

Therefore I was sent away by him after wasting lunch, money, and time due to them first telling me I can get it today and then rescinding.

So I am very unhappy with this particular incident and will be talking to Best Buy about it.

In the meantime, to Canon and Best Buy: IF these are really your instructions to Best Buy, not to sell cameras to eager customers even if they are in stock, then IMHO you gentlemen do not understand you are cutting branch you are sitting on, branch of enthusiasts whose getting camera in hands early generates word of mouth and drives initial sales. Flipping us off a bird like this can backfire, especially when nobody is turning me away from buying GF1 in store down the street.

Don't you get that IF I have/want to wait then I can as well wait months and get it much cheaper later online?

Thousands $ of business I gave you so far might seem nothing to you in big picture, but few thousand here few thousand there, and you have another Circuit City that was not getting it either.

I'm with sneakerpimp here and the rest. You definitely showed us and Best Buy. You went to another Best Buy for the same product. At least you could have gone to another retailer.

Glad you finally got it all sorted. It's a shame not everyone understands your concerns with regards to poor customer services.

I also look forward to your G10/G11 as I have a G11 being delivered to me tomorrow (UK).

not understanding sensor size wrt DOF even when constructively pointed to the DOFmaster web site and given no shortage of real world examples and verifiable facts.
not providing any verifiable facts of your own to support your assumption and ill-founded assertions.
writing condescendingly that it is self-evident that sensor size does not affect DOF if you have an inkling of knowledge re "Optics 101" as you called it.
not manning up to read and undersand the compelling facts which fly in the face of your assumptions then holding yourself accountable for your error and negative statements toward others.

dotbalm, I feel you have number of issues to deal with.

Explan them to admins, I am not interested in them. Posts by you and your team mate have been reported for breaching TOS, that says trolling and flame baiting are grounds for banning.
