PBase down?

Please check all your photos and galleries.

It was so easy to check mine because I number the photos sequentially. I just make sure they didn't delete any photo at the end of each gallery.
I do too but I have over 100,000 photos and 700+ galleries. Checking all of them is impossible.
Whoah!

That's a lot!

Better plan an exit strategy...if this keeps up.

Cheers!

Result? I lost 2 galleries. So...I just reloaded them.

I had 161 galleries and 2700 images before I just deleted one gallery, No way I could know the entore contents.

I may keep Pbase for family stuff and some old stuff. My new SmugMug gallery will be leaner and higher quality. But i doubt I have over 200 images at Pbase in the end.
I will have 2 sets of galleries...one in pbase...and one in smugmug...

See you in smugmug Ben!

Cheers!

It just went down for me, displaying the old message dated Sept 28.
Peter...Pbase is just scr@wy!

When you see that message pop up, just do a reload page...sometimes it will ask you if you want to resend data so please choose that option...

and sometimes you will see that outdated message again....just keep repeating and repeating the procedure until Pbase accepts your photo.

It happened to me too...occassionally...but I didn't give up...so they took my images.

Cheers!

It seems to be okay now; just did a bunch of editing. Perhaps it needs a bit of time to stabilize itself.

The virtue of the camera is not the power it has to transform the photographer into an artist, but the impulse in him to keep looking.

it has been 'stabilizing' for a week, back and forth; it's a disaster. How can we ever trust this site again? Probably many serious users will not renew their Pbase contributions when they run out, and move ship (wish I had done that before, there were enough reasons already in the previous year).

do you have a fish eye now?
Yes...a Sigma 4.5 F2.8 circular fisheye for the crop bodies...

I saw it while on a plane going to the east coast last year. I fell in lust right away...so before my birthday came I ordered it from B&H.
Ha, guess what I order for my birthday, the Samyang 8mm fish-eye :-)
Here is a smaple model shot with the Sigma 4.5 circular fisheye. Chez Wimpy brought to my attention that I left the lens bucket hood on (Thanks Chez!)...

BTW...I also use this lens for weddings. The guests and the photographers give me a weird look when I showed them the shots. They are shocked I had the guts to use this lens.

In Model Mayhem and in pbase, some photographers emailed me and asked me what lens I used for those shots. So I told them. They actually like the shots that I took. Wow!

My next fisheye is the Canon 15mm fisheye.
Should be the right thing for FF. And if you keep it level, with the horizon in the middle, the fish-eye effect is almost imperceptible, unless you have vertical lines at the edges.
I am going to use it for weddings...only for a few shots.
Quite right, just a few shots will be fine

Cheers!

Danny Tuason :)
again, good luck for your job search.

Enjoy your new toy!

I have seen lots of shot with this fisheye and I was impressed.

This is embarrassing...the only reason I didn't buy this lens at first last year was...

because it wasn't an L lens.

I was in total L lust last year. The first non L lens I bought was the Canon 10-22...but before I bought it I asked for reassurance from this forum...lots of members reassured me it's actually an L just without the red stripes. After that acquisition I opened my eyes to several non L lenses from Canon and other manufacturers' lenses too.

Cheers!

I've exercised untold patience with pbase over the years, for various reasons of liking their site, but have run out of slack now, it's just gone down again for me - 4th Oct.

I'm gonna use pGrab to get some of my images off (you need a PC), and migrate to Zenfolio, which looks much better now than they used to.

check out that PBgrab software – go to their page for instructions:

I'm wondering if these latest and/or contiunuing problems may be regional - i.e., affecting certain parts of the world, because I haven't experienced any problems since my last posting a day or so ago.

Just a thought.

Same here, no Pbase problems (except they don't have the counter/ statistics up yet).

My account is running smoothly with no glitches for the last day or so.

Yea, it is slow but only occasionally, most of the time it is very responsive.

I really don't care, I'm not loading lots of files at any one time....and I really like the format and font in my photographs display....better than other photo hosting sites.

Take a look...

It's stalling again on my PBase pages. Sometimes the page requests go through normally, but other times it hangs after the initial page request. I was also getting weird error messages yesterday, HTML code dumps with a message about how my album pages were not found on PBase.

It looks like the various problems over the past few years are still affecting PBase service. Maybe PBase simply became overburdened with too many users.
