PBase down?

Are Pbase gallery counters working?

In my galleries they seemed to have stopped working 2 hours ago.

I reset 2 of my gallery counters this morning after upload. They have not advanced since. It can also mean no one visited them. :(

However, StatCounter shows some visits from PBase' new gallery page. I guess their stat counter is not working. I am not surprised, their Statistics page has frozen at 0 since they went down.

Thanks for the confirmation Peter!

My counters worked the entire morning...then suddenly they just stopped...around 12:30 pm or 1pm...or something.

I checked my nude galleries because usually there is lots of traffic there everyday...but nope...there are no updates of their counters too. That's when I started my post.

BTW...one of my galleries...the tennis shots...was on page 2 of the popular galleries this morning and now they're gone...they're not on any pages anymore...they just disappeared into the Twilight Zone. Hehehe! I wonder why! Normally before once a gallery goes to the top ten pages of the popular galleries, once it's not popular anymore it goes like 10 pages down...for awhile...then another 20 pages down ...before it disappears entirely.
However, StatCounter shows some visits from PBase' new gallery page. I guess their stat counter is not working. I am not surprised, their Statistics page has frozen at 0 since they went down.
Yes...that's true! My flag counter still works too.

You're right about the statistics page counter...it has frozen at 0 since they went down.

Oh well!

Thanks for the confirmation Peter!

Cheers!

Sheesh! I am not a big fan of the desert.
By the way - regarding landscapes - did you every find a solution for the CPL for the 14mm?

I have now a Samyang 8mm fish-eye, so was thinking about the polarizer foil solution in the back? Did you try it?

No...ever since I got the Zeiss 21 Distagon I rarely use the 14 II L and the 16-35 II L now. I am thinking of getting rid of both lenses and get the TSE 17 L.

No not yet.

I have hard only good things about those Samyang lenses...I think that's a good buy!

Yes, the TSE 17 looks like a dream. Alas, it's not really a lens for crop cameras,
and also because of price, for me it will just stay a dream...

Well, they seem to be reasonably good lenses, but only manual, so no competition for the canon 85 f.1.2 or 1.8.

The 8mm fish eye is only for crop (unless you shave off the hood),

but given it's just for fun for me, the quality is indeed quite good, and the price is right ( 310$). Manual focus is fine for a fish-eye (set to 3m and done).

again, good luck for your job search.

Well what about the upcoming Zeiss ZE 18 and Zeiss ZE 21? They are both half the price the Canon TSE 17L.

For WA "standard" I have my Canon 10-22, and it is surely one of the least heavy UWA options - my shoulders appreciate it.

And...it is an excellent lens...I kept my copy...just in case.

do you have a fish eye now?
Yes...a Sigma 4.5 F2.8 circular fisheye for the crop bodies...

I saw it while on a plane going to the east coast last year. I fell in lust right away...so before my birthday came I ordered it from B&H. My first copy seems to have some glue stains in the front element so I contacted B&H and without problems they sent me a replacement.

I love this lens...that's why I am not hesitant to buy another Sigma lens. Before my strategy was stick to Canon lenses...then I bought the Zeiss 21 Distagon...then I bought this Sigma lens. Now I am open to the other brands too.

Here is a smaple model shot with the Sigma 4.5 circular fisheye. Chez Wimpy brought to my attention that I left the lens bucket hood on (Thanks Chez!)...

BTW...I also use this lens for weddings. The guests and the photographers give me a weird look when I showed them the shots. They are shocked I had the guts to use this lens.

In Model Mayhem and in pbase, some photographers emailed me and asked me what lens I used for those shots. So I told them. They actually like the shots that I took. Wow!

My next fisheye is the Canon 15mm fisheye. I am going to use it for weddings...only for a few shots.

I have to wonder if they will survive this?

I was able to upload photos earlier in the week but for the past 24 hours PBase refuses to accept an image or unpack a ZIP file.

...I just uploaded and edited an image and everything was normal.

...still no statistics, however.

I tried the delete in the past 30 minutes and it worked. This morning it didn't work at all.

To me the pisser is the stat counters. They don't get updated at all.
The only thing that works (in that regard) is my flag counter.

More...I tried to edit a photo by overlaying it. Pbase finally let me do it! I just changed all the photos in one of my galleries.

Cheers!

Please check all your photos and galleries.

It was so easy to check mine because I number the photos sequentially. I just make sure they didn't delete any photo at the end of each gallery.

Result? I lost 2 galleries. So...I just reloaded them.

Cheers!

I do too but I have over 100,000 photos and 700+ galleries. Checking all of them is impossible.

I had 161 galleries and 2700 images before I just deleted one gallery, No way I could know the entore contents.

I may keep Pbase for family stuff and some old stuff. My new SmugMug gallery will be leaner and higher quality. But i doubt I have over 200 images at Pbase in the end.

I've been uploading images all week but everything ground to a halt 24 hours ago. I cannot upload a single image. IE just hangs and the images never appear.
