A few "touristy" shots with the TZ7. I am still very happy with this camera, thinking of the G11 or S90 but I probably won't as none have this perfect combination of pocketable size and range. The better high ISO is tempting though.

With so excellent photos, I don't understand why you call the TZ7 a "not bad travel camera", instead of calling it an outstanding or, at least, a very good one.
Kind regards.

We're heading to Prague for several days in December before heading to Germany for the Christmas markets. Your photos have added to our anticipation.

I love the reflection of the windows on the left wall in the first picture!

And I knew that Prague is a beautiful city and I start realizing that the TZ7 is a fantastic camera - so this is quite a combination 8-)

Very nice - Prague is beautiful and you've caught some views I've not seen before!

How did you get on with just the one battery - on holiday I find they won't last the whole day?

Now the sun's lower in the sky, I've given in to using Auto ISO whenever the lighting is less than ideal. It seems to try to keep the ISO as low as possible, and generally (apart from the very darkest scenes) I've not noticed too much noise in the few shots that do go up to ISO400 - especially once they're resized down for my hosting site. And it does reduce the effect of some people's annoying habit of moving their heads and hands when being photographed!

Many many many thanks for those lovely pictures!!!
And now I know that I have to visit Prague ;-)

PS: personal note for me: "Don't forget the TZ7 ..."

Thanks everybody for your nice comments.

It is indeed easy to take nice pics in Prague and I was lucky with the weather, sunny everyday and 25C for end of September is good I guess. And the TZ7 is indeed a great travel camera, maybe the best "compromise" for now, very good daylight IQ, the best focal range and pocketable. Plus it takes good video as well.

Hi Peter,

One battery was enough for my shooting habits, finished every day with one bar left, but it never run out on me. I do shoot quite a few test shots but maybe less that other people. And maybe 1-2 min of video, not more.

Yes you're right, when I bought it and was testing the Auto ISO it was always choosing the lowest ISO possible, i.e. at low light when it senses no motion, either of the holding hand or the subject in focus, it will mostly choose ISO80 I found. But I now always have it at ISO80, as I find it just acceptable when I pixel peep(!) (it is more noisy than the LX3 or the S90 at base ISO for sure). But I'm sure it prints just great anyway.

But yes, maybe I should try the Auto ISO when there are people moving in the evenings, I'll try it next time...

Excellent photos for a p&s. Prague is a beautiful city. I have a TZ5, the older version of your camera. To be honest, by looking at your images, the first thought that comes to my head is how much sharper and better these images could be had DSLR was used. But for p&s, I don't think you could do much better than these.

Don't know about the TZ7 (I have an oldie FZ18 :)) But I do like Prague and I certainly think you do justice to the city. Thanks for sharing these pictures.

Hopefully I will get there one day and see it myself.

I'm glad the TZ is working well for you. I came close to getting one myself, and would have if it had manual controls.
