50mm f/1.4 reliability

i loved my 50/1.4, but despite using the hood to protect it the af did break after less than 3 years. i had canon fix it, not too much money and it came back better (literally) than new. but after less than 2 more years it's broke again. still works as a manual focus lens.

unfortunately it is not the most durable design.

Hi!

I have mine for more than 6 years, used on several different cameras: no problem so far.

Happy shooting,

If you were to judge from all the hysteria here on the lens forum, the Sigma 50mm f1.4 should be around 75%...lol! It is interesting it isn't on the list. I suspect as I have said many times in the past, its one of those lenses you have to learn.

I use mine for street photography and I do have some soft focus issues, but when I turn on all focus points, the images become rock solid in sharpness.

An excellent lens lasts a lifetime, an excellent DSLR, not so long.
