For those interested in how the Lumix 20mm Pancake looks on the E-P1, I just took a few shots from various angles for those interested. Slightly more chunky that Oly’s 17mm, but still very portable and light.

Some more shots from various angles and bigger sizes on my Flickr photostream.

Looks like my E-P1 found its soulmate! ;) Look forward to taking it to a friend’s barbie tomorrow.

Regards,
Tony

Tony- Does the EP1 do distortion correction on that lens? The way to check it is to press the lens release button and see if the LCD image changes. It is very visible with the 17mm pancake.

Thanks for the pics! That's how mine will look in a week or so... ;)

So what's the verdict, does it stick out on the bottom and make it unstable to set down flat?

It sits flush with the bottom as shown here:

I did that and the screen only goes black, so I am not sure. My guess is that it does do distortion correction but not CA correction.

ps

of course this does not mean that you can use it on a Ep1, cameras and lens are just tools, so if IQ is good the lens could be also red and the body green...no problem for me:)

Also, the m43 system is fast becoming like a Frankenstein system - random parts from random manufacturers coming together in perfect harmony lol.

Seeing the Lumix cap and the Olympus logo is quite...odd.

BTW Tony, does the 20mm come with a hood?

It looks a very interesting lens. However, is it just me or is the lens cap unusually deep. It seems a bit odd to design a low profile lens and then fit it with a lens cap that unnecessarily protrudes. Fair enough you could maybe find a flatter one but you'd have thought Panasonic would have made a low profile lens cap to go with a low profile lens.

Where did you get that cool hand strap with the memory card holder? I want one !

Or vice versa. I put the Oly 17 f/2.8 or 9-18 on the G1--looks odd too LOL---esp. before I take off the lens caps and the Oly name is so prominent just below the Lumix LOLOL.
That does kinda bother doesn't it. Aesthetically, I hate the way the Lumix inscription on this one looks... So unbalanced top to bottom :( And I can't say enough how ugly the grey ring with the gold focal length letters is... (Still getting one tho ;))

Ditto. Inquiring minds want to know.
Olympus, Lumix with a Leica strap!! No one can accuse me of being a brand fanboy... ;)

Prices vary on the web if you search from between $10-$40.

No it doesn’t. I only received a soft-case with mine.

but definitely doesn't look as nice as the 17mm pancake on the EP-1... possibly because of the diff shade of gray used on the panny lens around the mounting area.... lol..
Still not sure why Panasonic went for that purplish-grey styling on their lenses – what does it actually match? It doesn’t even go that well with their own bodies.

I don’t think it looks that bad actually... but then, my E-P1 has been attached to the 4/3 adapter and 14-54mm for the past few weeks so I am just glad the E-P1 has resumed normal service. Looks sweet from that comparison!

...if only Voigtlander joined m4/3 to start to make sweet metallic auto-focus lenses. mmmmmm...
