Forget the 1:1 thing, that's really a bit of a red herring. Think aperture, you maybe able to shoot that with something like a Tamron or Sigma consumer zoom that does 1:2 macro (see my gallery for the tamron).
Keep in mind that 1:2 is at 300mm which is really 450mm and you'll need about f/10 (at least) to get the DOF you need. At f/10 and 1/450th sec you need some SERIOUS light, either bright sunshine or a flash.
One last time ... there is no free lunch.
