Olympus and Nikon also have better metering. Canon cameras dont care about bright areas and blow them out. I think Nikon's cams are most cautious of them all for blowing out highlight etc.G2's exposure is also not consistent. Like the other person said
Casio has much better metering than Canon.
Ive seen some horrible shots with Canon G1 and G2 with flash.G2 over/underexposes with external flash as its not completely
controlling the flash using full E-TTL. sometimes its like they
both are working on their own.
Yeah, the camera tries to do some kind of "smart exposure" but it ends up very bad. My Canon S10 also had inconsistent exposure issues. Both with and without flash. Its more overexposure than underexposure.G2 over/underexposes even in mid-daylight sometimes thinking the
small shadow part of the whole frame is more important than other.
This is one thing I also learned after my Canon S10, dont trust specs. Specs doesnt make a camera! That was true for my Canon EOS300 also, which was a huge disappointment. Now uses a Pentax Mz-5n which do also have flaws, but at least delivers when looking at the specs. Canon EOS300 had like "45 zone advanced metering" and it still couldnt get exposure right.Who are G2 design engineers???
Why I bought G2? Reading specs, thinking it could be better G1. as
i have all accesseries.
Next Camera FOR SURE will not be CANON.
Only LCD is too good in G2 and rest all are almost comparable to
$300 camera.
