I was in NYC this weekend getting comfortable with my new d-lux4. I'm using a CV21 Viewfinder too.

This shot was taken inside Bloomingdales, while my wife was shopping for a gift.

I love the pattern of the "Pink Sale" even though the window had a huge 50% off painted on the window in front of the middle pattern.

There really is a bit of barrel distortion when shooting wide.

The next two shots are from St. Patricks Cathedral.

Very nice series. Numbers 4 and 1 particularly stand out for me, in that order. With #4, I would try cropping the left side, to emphasize the story (just an idea...).

They might be trying to hypnotize people into buying stuff by using those psychedelic signs :-)

All the best,
Ece

A very nice series! I like your B/W very much! My favorite is #3 with all the chefs gathering on the left!

You should enter your first shot for Kodak challenge. Their theme is "texture" and they are very open minded about camera brands!
keep posting,

It's normal to have some kind of distortion in wide angle!... But you can easily correct it in PP! I did a very quick tweak, but with more time, you can even do it better!

Hi Louis,

Do you notice how much softer your tweaked image is compared to the original? It is a lot less detailed.

Is it possible to remove the distortion while still retaining the level of detail in the original shot?

Hi Ryan,

With more time, I am sure I could do much better. I just spent a few seconds to correct the distortion; I did not do anything for the rest of the image!

If I had the original shot, I could use different PP techniques to improve it! :))

I would have done the same if I put more time into it :)

With regard to the loss of image quality - the posted shot was a JPG saved at 50%. I shoot in RAW+Jpg - so, I'd make the correction for distortion using the RAW file - without loss of image quality.
