Just when I was about to .... D700 from 1300 to 1500 plus VAT (15%).

Just enough to stop people from the continent ordering in UK.

The worst is that sales in UK will probably go down and in the rest of EU .... as well!!

Well, I was dreaming my D700 with 14-24 ... I guess I will close my eyes when I use my D200 with the Tokina instead and think it is the same :-)

Robert White is the only one that honours the price at the time of ordering and they just increased the prices.

All others are out of stock and put you in a waiting list with no assurance on price.

Jessops have it listed for 1536 (VAT inclusive).

They also have them in stock. The nearest one to me with it in stock is the Kingston branch.

I don't know where you saw that. Prices are still unchanged everywhere, loads in stock, and you can get one at around £1,500 VAT inclusive + a free copy of Capture NX2 from Nikon. You can have a look here: http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/prod658.html Don't know if prices are going up soon, but they certainly haven't changed yet.

Regards

then people will just hang on to what they have and make do unless they NEED the camera for work and nothing they own will do the job (very unlikely) ..

All it'll result in is the makers selling far less cameras in the UK - they charge the UK dealers too much anyway (dealers don't make much on bodies or lenses) ..

So far none are on stock and the only shop (robert white) who honors the web prices also when on waiting list has increased them ..... funnily not on the D3x and D300 but only on selected items. I guess the most popular.

Cliftons have D700 in at £1564 incl VAT or £2500 incl VAT with 24-70
Warehouse express say low stock but show price of £1524
Park cameras instock at £1524
Jacobs instock at £1534 and some of these still have NX2 free with them.

I see no price hike happening, maybe just some reaction to availability for some vendors.

Plenty (possibly hundreds) in stock at jessops, warehouseexpress, rgb-tech, jacobsdigital, parkcameras and so on. Besides, I presume you only need one (still talking about the D700 aren't we?).

By the way, all come with NX2, you just need to make a claim with the receipt and warranty slip from Nikon.
