fools, all of us. Now, gentlemen, this is possibly a whole new concept if you are not into retail therapy in a big way, but the girls will understand.

All of us who have bought a blue or red G1 are going to become FASHION VICTIMS. Yep, come the G2 and they'll bring out green and yellow or whatever, anything but blue or red and we'll all be, yep, DATED.

The megapixel race as we know it is over. Panny has trumped the industry. No more R&D overheads, no more new sensors etc.
Just new colours.

How embarassed are we going to be, wearing blue and red when the new black is...whatever.

Oh, geez, they got us and we didn't even see it comin'

You just added female photographers to the old stereotype of female drivers:

Q: What kind of camera do you use / (car do you drive) ?
A: A blue one.

The world will never be the same again :-)

Oh no, John, it'll get men and women equallly. I just rather unfairly, perhaps, suggested that women may be a bit more savvy about what Panasonic has done to us. I mean can you, really, see Kath and Kim in LAST YEAR's camera? I don't think so!

Worse - what happens when two of you arrive at a photographic venue carrying the same colour camera? Nightmare, gadget bags at dawn.

You're right! You'll need a new camera every spring and autumn!

But I want a "field camouflage" matt soft olive green one, which will never be in fashion, so it cannot go out of fashion. So I might have to wait for the G5.

We have a friend who had had a Smart car for a couple of years when I asked her whether the engine was in the front or in the back . . . she didn't know, but she did know that the car was red and black.

We note that Panasonic directed a lot of their launch advertising at women. As this presumably included blondes, I hope they wrote it slowly!

--OMG! dreadful, dreadful thought! Lucky it's a small cutie. One of each colour in the handbag to be on safe side.

You made me think.....all the divas getting their dressmakers to match their G1 colour for their logie dress............OMG I need a substantial drink

--Err, yep saw it a mile off realised that terrible master(fashion) was at the heart of it,why even Pentax has jumped on the bandfashionwagon though I ask you WHITE its so last season darling, it is indeed a bad day for photography,(I here theres a Burburry G2 waiting to be let loose on the world any moment) diamond studded ones,Camo' ones to go with Camo' jackets so loved by birders.

The world is their(Panasonic's) oyster(Ah theres an idea Mother of Pearl effect)and then there be the bags to go with them and tripods and.....and........oh the list is endless

Psst ,come closer, there is a way out (looks both ways then whispers in the ear of anyone who wishes to be enlightened) buy black then atleast every couple of years i'll be in fashion :0)

My opinion is just that.

Huh! John Wood, I bet you're a dear darling man, but therein lies the thing. It's what I said in OP; it's a girlie thing that you dear ones sometimes don't quite get. Your heart is obviously in the right place with your thought of 'stick with black, you can't go wrong'. But John, you can. You can go terribly, terribly wrong. how often have you kept that old sports coat in the cupboard cos it'll come back again, only to find that THE LAPELS ARE TOO NARROW!!!

This will happen here, also. It may be black, but hello! those Bling eyelets are so 5 minutes ago! Look where the view finder is sitting! Yukko! It's inthe middle of the camera! OMG, would you think they'd DIE of embarrassment when everyone knows the viefinder is on the left this year!

--I think I have to bow to the superior female mind, you are of course right simply because you are a woman and women are always right, at any time, any where, always, but no more so than when fashion is the subject, forgive my ignorance.

PS Do you think they'll do a pink one?

My opinion is just that.

Hmmm, pink........... not confident about that. The fashionistas are saying that Pentax is going with pink and heavens, Panasonic is so not a follower of fashion. So on balance, I'd say no, John, prolly not pink. Panasonic will prolly invent a new colour

--Can't wait!

.............Dang I've been sucked in.....are you sure you don't work for Paansonic!!!

My opinion is just that.

it is a great advantage to be "fashion impaired". Rise up, fashion victims, and declare your freedom from the wasteful, consumerist, media-driven fashion slave train to which you have been bound! Put on those bell-bottoms, embrace that Members Only jacket, knot up that extra wide tie (or is it extra narrow? I dunno, I'm fashion ignorant!). Grab your blue camera and meet me to spend the day mocking the fashion-conscious.

I'll be the one in the leisure suit. (For those too young to know what a leisure suit was, consider yourself lucky.)

Tim (basic black is the way to accessorize.)

I'm hoping for Purple when the G2 is released! ;D

Will it be totally unacceptable to sport the new "White" Pentax between thanksgiving & Easter?

Although I'd imagine there'd be an exception for times when shooting it in a blizzard would be allowed for stealth reasons....
Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk!!!
PS: for those outside N. America:

The wearing of White is frowned upon in fashion circles during the winter months.. Or at least that's what I've been lead to believe....

Colour (be it red, green, blue et cetera)
Is the NEW BLACK

Guess if you are male and prone to colour blindness this whole colour thing is a no show.

If you are a colour aficionado and read lots of camera sights it will matter but to the average person after a while it will just seem to be a whole collection of various colours hanging around people’s necks.

However when the seasonal colours come in we will all be in trouble, who will be the first one pilloried for such a crime as having a “Summer Breeze blue” camera during the mid of winter, or an “Autumn Tuscan red” as springs announces itself. Just think the embarrassment you will face if you are holidaying between hemispheres from the northern winter and southern summer, what then do you take?

--Man expands image whilst deftly reaching for sunglasses.......then continues....There could be a distinct advantage whilst taking candid shots on a sking holiday with the new Pentax, though the photographer could be in trouble should he/SHE drop it in the snow one would need to wait until spring to recover it!!!

No, I think I shall wait for the new intimated colour that Panasonic will no doubt invent, if per chance that new colour were a leettle teensy bit bright all will be forgiven if its on the new FZ60(?) :0),

My opinion is just that.
