I'm still using my outdated A620 when I don't want to carry around my DSLR and a heavy lens bag. This time I was hiking and took about 30 pictures. Here are some of them:

EXIF: Canon A620, M-mode, f5,6, ISO 50, polarizer

Robert, I can't see where your A620 is "outdated" when it can produce beautiful pictures like those and I'd like to see ANY other camera do better.

I'm hanging on to my '610 !!

Great shots; give you a true feel for the hike. Nice area...

Robert, your pictures are beautiful, the colors, the clarity and the subject. Don't even think about getting rid of the 620. It performs great. Hope to see more of your pictures.

I went hiking, took pictures of with my a560 in North Georgia, and they look nothing like this. I expect that having clear atmosphere helps. Mine ended up looking washed out.
