Anyone here using the CyberSync??

My CyberSync (CS) remotes (1 transmitter and 1 battery receiver) arrived this week and I've used them twice while shooting families for a church directory. They have performed flawlessly on approximately 100 shots. The CS is triggering a 580EXII, used for a hair light, which fires two AB 800’s via the built in slave tripper.

I previously used the Cactus Trigger (CT) (a.k.a. Poverty Wizards) in studio and they did an OK job, but did have occasional miss-fires. A few weeks ago while attempting to use the CT for an outdoor shoot, I had numerous miss-fires from less than 15 feet. It was so bad I gave up and finished the shoot with the 580 on camera. After that experience I decided it was time to give the CS a try. So far so good. I hope to test the CS outdoors tomorrow and will post the results.

Hope this helps.

Same here. Three months of use, thousands of shots, not one misfire or missed shot. I've used them indoors and out. Build quality is good, much better than I expected from some past reviews I've read. They simply work when you need them..everytime.

Minor dislikes: I dislike the raised "on" switch on the battery receivers. It's too easily bumped during storage and transport. A recessed "on" switch is supposedly in the works for future models. I'd still prefer an on/off switch instead of the auto off after an hour feature.

Been using them for 3 weeks and around 1500 shots with no missfires. Hooked up a light in the garage and walked down the street pushing the test button on the transmitter and the light was still firing at 100 yards. No quite sure what the range is and they are proving to be very dependable.
Have a good one!

I have one transmitter and two receivers - they are fantastic.

I'm using two Alien Bee B800s and a couple of battery powered strobes at the moment and have played with different ways to use the Cybersyncs + slaves. Also of note I'm using the Sony A700/Alpha mount which has an advanced, proprietary hot shoe. An adapter takes care of it no problem.

I just got some and so far so good. They replaced my skyports which wouldn't fire my sigma flashes.

one of the supplied sync cables. you can connect a studio flash or if the speedlight has a PC connector, you can use that.

if nothing, then you'll have to get a hotshoePC adaptor for around 20-30 dollars

Many users are simply letting them dangle by the sync cord or using Velcro to attach to the flash housing.

I could have written this because I had almost the identical experience. The cybersyncs are very reliable and very happy with them. I like that no one else has them so don't worry about mixing channels.

I have them attached to my 430ex and vivitar 285HV with this

I think it needs some electrical insulation because when I touch the light stand sometimes it goes off.

Just wanted to say Thank you everyone's input on the CS. Just read Paul's forum that they are coming out new version - CSRB+ in November.... I can order them now and pay the $20 different later.... since i am not in a rush, i'll wait.
