Hi there,

My brother-in-law is going to Hong Kong in a couple months and I might ask him to get a D700 for me.

Anyone over there know how much it is in HK dollars right now?

Thanks very much,
Andrew

If, you buy the D700 in Kong Kong, the warranty will cover in China, HongKong and Macau ONLY. Same as Japan, if you buy D700 in Japan can only get Japan Nikon Warranty one year.

In Japan D700 around US2,500

Hi, I am an Asia expatriate and am current back to live in Hong Kong. I have shopped my camera gear here in Hong Kong many years now.

Best stores are the Wing Shing and Man Shing chain, same company different names. There are two Wing Shing stores and one Man Shing store in Mong Kok. They have good prices, can be trusted and sell genuine products with warranties. This is where most Hong Kong people also shop, that is why they are now big. If I recall correct, for Nikon products digital cameras have Hong Kong warranties, while the lenses are with international warranties, but please check.

For reference of prices, not affiliated with Wing Shing or Man Shing, see here

http://www.ygdragon.net/index.php?page=photo/cameraprice.htm (actual prices vary some)

In non reputable stores you will stand risk at not getting complete new product or products with Japan or store only warranties.

If you live in USA it is better to buy from B&H or similar since prices do not vary much and you have USA warranties. For people in other countries, prices in Hong Kong are about 2/3 but vary depending on product.

If you have questions, feel free to email me.

Are Zeiss lenses for Nikon affordable there in general?

I shopped some things from them, but you have to be more cautious with products there to make sure genuine warranties. I have also walked away after looked at products in their stock. They also tend to carry some products that are out of fabrication which is great! Found my Pentax spotmeter there last year :).

I recommend Wing Shing and Man Shing over them.

Hi Andrew!
Hi there,

I don't know what the guys are posting here...actually I have been
in Hong Kong personally this August and the D700 has been at this
time about 22.500 HK$, divided by 11 its 2045 Euros, which is 450 Euros
cheaper I would get it here.

So, the more it costs the more its cheaper...meaning an EN-El4a battery
or SB-900 flash is not that much cheaper but lenses or camera bodies
definetly are cheaper up to 30%.
About warranty...different people have told me that you can get an
international warranty...I have been sceptic too - but I did saw

the warranty paper and its been quite the same as back in Europe, meaning in all languages...looks, feels internationally - just that its printed "NIKON Hong Kong" on it...the only difference to all the other I do already own of goods bought
here in Europe.

kind regards,
