Too much playing in lightroom?

And looks like a nice, contrasty, S-curve there with well-judged saturation. Very much to my taste! Nicely lit, too.

Suggestion: tighter crop, maybe?

Question: how much playing was involved?

Cheers
Duncan

thanks for your comments. The only reason the crop isn't tighter is because I wanted there to be room to put text on the left, possibly in silver or white lettering. I should have mentioned that.

With regards to the playing in lightroom, I can't remember where the link came from but Bootstrap would know.

I can't remember all of the sliders to adjust to 100% off the top of my head and then adjustments after that to taste but if Bill (bootstrap) doesn't give you the link I will answer you tonight regarding the sliders to experiment with.

Did you just pump up fill light, brightness, blacks and then desaturated? Because this technique gives you impression you are looking at illustration.

Barry,

I can't remember all of the steps as I am not at home and you would think I could picture all of the sliders in my mind but I can't. There were more changes made than that plus tinkering to taste but I will check it tonight. Sounds like you have been using this method or something similar as well. I do know that I usually find a 100% on the fill light slider to be too much and usually reduce it to about 20-30% and adjust black to taste, generally not too high. Clarity goes to 100% though as do I believe brightness and contrast.

Hopefully Bill might confirm the link to this Lightroom tip.

This is an effect I have tried (with varying degrees of success)..

I must say I like yours more than mine!!

I would use this shot in an instant, if it were mine.

I'm guessing that you desaturated quite a bit. Maybe about to 20-25%. I agree with the Fill Slider and the Blacks Slider.
I'm also guessing a slight vignette.

Yes you are quite correct on the desaturation. I don't seem to have as much success as you do with this process but I keep trying to match your excellence.

No vignette though but I agree it does kind of look like I did but I didn't.

thanks for the comments. I too find I have limited success with it
but Bill (Bootstrap) seems to do much better with it.

He has made an "Art Form" of tweaking the sliders in lightroom... we mere beginners must slave away.. learning it a tweak at a time!
