Wow these two shots are a delight to watch.
Sharpness, Tones, Colors, everything is perfect.
I mean who needs more than 6MP in a compact.?!
The S30 and S60 are My Canon compact favorites.

Thanks for sharing Adam.

Thanks .. I rue the day when Adobe bought Pixmantec to Kill off RAWshooter - it was the best Converter for small sensor Digicams ever IMO (you wanna see S70/G6 conversions as well as stuff like the KM A2 and Pan FZ30) The confusing Lightroom isn't a patch on it for compact cams even if it IS better for a lot of DSLRs ..

I still can't believe that the 7yr old S30 + RSE beats the legendary Fuji F30 and F31FD for print size at ISO800 but I've done it and it does (In fact the F30 is going to be sold because the A650 Kills it for low ISOs so why have it with an S30 in the house?) - that means that the S30 is STILL the best Compact ISO800 performer after all that time !.

I love the wide angle of the S6/70 too when you get a good one (took me 3 goes to get a decent lens on an S70) - that 7MP sensor was a peak of balance between noise, resolution and Dynamic range :) ..

These are amazing beautiful photographs! Do you know if the shooter used a G3? I couldn't find it on the flickr page.
Thanks

No, I don't know the shooter. Somebody pointed me to his work a few years ago and I've been referring back to it ever since.

This guy's a professional, and one of the best I've seen, at that. I'm sure he only shoots with the best equipment.

While preparing for a week-long backpacking trip in Wyoming's Wind River Range I was torn between the many camera choices at my disposal. Do I bring my DSLR/lenses kit, digital point-n-shoot, a medium format folder with 120 roll film, maybe Oly's Sylus Epic loaded with Velvia? Weight and size along with features/convenience were all given careful consideration; I dismissed DSLR/w.a. lens kit as too bulky; Though large negative space of medium format seemed appropriate, I've not yet run a roll through newly acquired Voigtlander Perkeo II to test its shutter, ergonomics, frame advance mechanism, etc., plus I wanted something wider than normal focal length. I didn't want to be limited by a prime lens in Oly's Epic; I eventually settled on my older 4MP Powershot G3 which has been gathering dust lately. Armed with 3 charged batteries, an 8GB CF card (and a spare), off went the G3 into the wilderness. I shot RAW; I'll let images speak for themselves (10 per post):

Just fabulous imagery...all these shots.

Not looking for speed or anything, just bought the G3 to shoot Raw & print 4 x 6's around the house shots. Chose it over the G6...hope I made the right move.
