LR2 - do you like it?

The camera profiles alone are worth the upgrade price to me.

But the graduated neutral density filter and local corrections brush are a nice dessert.

The localized brush tool is really nice. I really like the profiles too. They also work in photoshop raw 4.5 too. But i never liked the workflow in photoshop for raw files.

Dual screen is nice even if I had hoped it had included tear away control panels.

Output sharpening (if it works decently, I haven't had time to try properly yet) means I can probably skip Photoshop altogether now for the previews I put on my website, I will be able to do everything in one workflow within Lightroom which will save time.

The intergration with Photoshop is super, much faster working and with great features.

LR2 ... absolutely amazing. I can see many photos now not going near PS3 unless exceptional editing is needed. Indeed, I revisited my last job and saw ways of improving a few I had missed.

I have been using the BETA version for some time, I love the dual monitor support, so I ordered it yesterday. I especially like the ability to adjust exposure with a pen. Much faster than the 1.4 for deleting files and exporting.

I upgraded to LR2 from version 1.3.1

Too slow to really be usable, and when I attempt to do edit/prefrences to see what I can do to impove it, as soon as I click on edit/prefrences the program hangs.

:-((

The previous version was already excellent but the addition of localized/elective editing and the graduated ND emulator are 2 major additions.

I can not think of another software that is so effective and intuitive to me as this one is.

It was a pain paying 120 EUR for the upgrade when it costs much less in the US but, that regrettable price difference apart, I have no regrets for what I already forked out for the 2 versions.

i a sure u are using a mac :)

it seem all mac user notice that..
version2 is (a lot) less reactive than 1.41 or 2 beta.

for sure they miss some optimization.
64bit slower ( alot) than 32bit exporting files..

and 32bit same performance than 1.41

i am under osx 10.5.4, imac 24", 4gb ram.

Actually seems to be a bit faster on my Macbook 2GHz, 2GB RAM, OS X 10.5.4 (I believe). I'd say about 10-25% faster, depending on the operation, with the most improvement noticeable when opening files in Loupe view, where the rendering seems much faster to me.

You see, the thing is, I'm an absolutist. Well, kind of... in a way...

So far, I like it. I love version 1.x, and have only downloaded the trial version of v2, but so far so good. A couple of quick questions:

1) Can you tell me more about the camera profiles? What are the benefits?

2) So far, the localized editing is awesome, if a little slow - do you think it replaces Nik's Viveza?

3) How do you think the Library function compares to dedicated photo organizers such as ACDSee Pro 2?

marco, I liked the metadata browser in 1.4 also, but the one in 2.0 is so much more flexible. Now that I've learned how to use it, its really terrific. I bought the Luminous Landscapes downloadable tutorial videos and got right up to speed--and really much prefer it now.

I am interested in these questions too.

There was keyword panel on the left panel in LR 1.3. When clicking a keyword, it shows all photos with that keyword. In LR 2, this panel is removed from left panel. So how can I show all photos with the same keyword? Do I have to use collection? If I use collection, do I still need to use keyword?

Also, I don't feel it is faster compared to old version as stated in the new feature.

Brush is very nice. So is filter.

I really like LR--and REALLY like LR 2.0. The camera profiles mainly affect Canon and Nikon shooters. They approximate the Picture Styles for Canon--not sure for Nikon plus an Adobe RGB. Plus--you can also dl the dng converter that allows you to use the profile editor to tweak these or create your own profiles.

I don't know viveza except by reputation.

I used Imatch before. Now that I've gotten used to using LR I'm happier with it. I work with offline external harddrives and LR makes it very easy to do this--and have the catalog available to use with filters, keywords, etc. I love the new metadata browser/filter--and the keywording is easy to use and pretty powerful.

The keyword panel is on the right now--just a change and probably for the better. My keywords are all intact from 1.4 and work exactly the same.

I'm not sure if its faster or not--I have it on an XP pro machine ( my main and I would say it is faster on it) and a Vista laptop that isn't top of the line and it does quite well with it and Photoshop both opened. Not as fast as my main with lots of RAM, etc. but quite good.
