same picture using new portrait control compared to DX2II

Lol she didnt want her picture taken? Just a guess... :)

Of course I don't know if those reddish spots on the cheeks are THAT red in reality, but from my subjective point of view D2XII still kooks more natural and realistic.

I agree with Philipp, the D2XII in my opinion still looks more natural and seems to have better contrast. To me the Portrait profile is too saturated in the reds

... No Regrets ...

I'm not sure why nikons like to increase the reds in portrait modes.

Shouldn't it be that in white people, the B channel must be equal to or greater than the A channel?

The second picture seems warmer (look at the yellow on the top right). Also, maybe because of that, the reds are showing up more. I prefer the second pic because it looks warmer. Perhaps a tad more contrast as well.

But the D2X mode for portraits is the I, not the II.
The II was made because if you want PPing the pic.

We have to compare the D2X mode III with the new landscape and the D2X mode I with the new portrait.
IMO: they'll be similar

I did a quick and dirty comparison with the Neutral PC and found Portrait to be a smidgen more saturated and have more contrast!

Same goes for your comparison IMO.

Is that good or bad? I think the answer is yes! :-)

Because if she finds out you posted this on a forum this popular, she will KILL you.

For what it's worth, the second picture looks oversaturated and the skin tones aren't as nice as the first.

I usually prefer D2xmode I for portraits. In your comparison the hair has a bit more red tint in mode I. Which of the 3 modes captured closer the actual color as shown in the lighting conditions for this comparision?
