Is it worth it? Do you see a great difference when shooting raw? Is there anything else that you can't live without that wasn't in camera before the hack?

Thanks for all your input

I wanted so bad to have smaller apertures and longer exposures more than 15 seconds. Also I did want to try RAW on my S5, but honestly that feature is useless FOR ME so far.

The scripts are just another world, using timelapse, a wide variety of bracketing and so on is priceless.
So, was it worth it? Yes It was, for me!

Sorry for my bad english, whtvr hehe.

it was worth installing just for the battery meter. But, I also decided to start shooting RAW. I also like having control over what onscreen information is displayed and where it is displayed.

The great thing is if on any particular day you decide you don't want the added features, simply flip the write-protect switch on the SD card and turn the camera back on and the hack is gone.

Does anyone know when or if there's going to be a hack for the SX100?

What is the smallest aperture that you can set? I would need a lot smaller than 8.0 but I'm afraid it would ruin the IQ. What is your experience?

Thanks in advance

Thanks el_vago32, smaller aperture is probably the only thing that I really need, I like shooting macro with the raynox 250 and f8.0 really isn't enough.

which version of CHDK for the S5 did you use?

I tried several versions and could not get the smaller aperture or battery meter

Thans donc76, that would give me enough dof but I'm afraid stopping down that much would mean I would have to increase ISO to get higher shutter speeds when shooting bugs, I don't think I'll do that. Still, it will be usefull for tripod shots.

Guess I'll have to try it out.

I wrote this guide.

The values you see are the minimum and maximum values that you can set in CHDK. It doesn't necessarily mean that the particular camera is capable of such a large f number. Currently, CHDK settings don't tailored themselves to the particular camera that's being used.

Below is a link to the Wiki page that lists the actual limits that have been discovered by users of the various camera models. It’s not complete, but the S5 has got some good info. According to the chart, the S5 can go to f/11 when focused beyond 300mm. Unfortunately that means no smaller aperture for macro work, unless you use a close-up lens.

Graystar. I had seen that chart before but kind of forgot about it. It's an age thing.

Your CHDK Menu work is really useful. Now that's a source I refer to frequently. Good job.

Thank you! If you see anything that's wrong, needs more explaining, or just something you think might improve the guide, I'm all ears! :)
