I likes shootin' things with them new-fangled picture-takin' devices! :D

One of the first ones I learned about and have stuck with it. You can post pictures of any size and they do have counter stats too. I use Photobucket as a host site for posting on websites like this. It is free and will automatically resize them for the web if they are too large. Pbase is $25 a year. Zenfolio looks interesting.

After trying both Zenfolio and Smugmug, i decided on Zenfolio
for the ease of use and looks (my personal taste)

Also for the people i know who are not into photography and
need an easy to navigate interface to look at my pictures.

Zenfolio without any shadow of doubt. Best look, good presentation options, full screen slideshow, affordable - as far as I am concerned. If it is viewers feedback you are after (not much value to me) you may want to look elsewhere, otherwise zenfolio is top of the bunch.

I don't like using any of the commercial photo sites.

Most people use an ISP, like Roadrunner, Earthlink or, heaven forbid, AOL.

Just about all ISPs offer free webspace and a way to upload for those who are computer challenged.

If you are not computer challenged, there a even better uses for this webspace. You can buy a domain and create your own photo site. Just use a program like Dreamweaver and have at it.

I don't bother with a photo website. I just stick them on the server. For example bird images go here:

Exposure manager [www.exposuremanager.com] simialer to Smugmug but considerably Cheaper . AND if you might ever sell anything you might want to keep your customers; unlike Smugmug Exposuremanager does not make your customers theirs. You keep your customers.

Products are equal in quality, from what I've seen, last time I checked Smugmug was less expenseve on only 1 sized pring and nothing else.

Smug mug has more ready made display options but both allow modification and you can write your own or use other templates.

I prefer it to Pbase simply due to the final products option [have them print or do it yourself and a few neat twists you can use if you wish].

Flickr is a photo sharing site, the rest are really photo display sites.

I use Flickr for posting photos for passers-by to look at, and in that role it seems to me unsurpassed. As a gallery display option, I used to use PBase, but I found its unreliability too much so I ended up using Flickr for that job as well.
