Nikon UK: My D3 Is Faulty,If you monitor these forums as you state in this NPS Issue

I would expect a direct email or phone call would be far more effective than posting a message on a non-Nikon UK internet forum.

Honestly, this is the least effective way of handling a problem with your camera I can imagine. And bizarre as well.

NPS in the USA requires you to have at least 2 cameras so you're never in a crisis like this. I suspect its the same in the UK, and reasonable for any professional photog.

Cheers,
JB
Nikon UK ,Please contact me as soon a possible to arrange for a
replacement D3 to get to me as my dealer has none in stock until 2008
and mine is playing up big time.
I cannot wait for this to be solved when they get stock in 2008 as i
need to use it for work over the christmas period!!!
Please...................do something.

My NPS magazine arrived on saturday and it states in it that NIKON monitor the > forums to check on the feedback on the D3.
I read that too, but do you honestly expect someone from Nikon UK to be surfing the web on a Sunday night, with a spare D3 handy? Logisically its impossible for them to anything that will get you a replacement before Christmas.

Actually Nikon says they do monitor forums, but really get feedback from professionals...

Its bad luck, but given the time of year, I don't see how you will get a replacement via a post here.

Hope you get it sorted in the New Year.

I flashed the bat signal, but you did not respond so I'm asking you here as I KNOW you read this forum.

Please...................Do something!

I think the OP is pretty desperate to get the D3 changed. I feel the pain - but I don't think it is appropriate to poke fun at the situation. Even though your humour might get the better of you. It's pretty low to make jokes about someone else's misfortune.

Imagine how YOU would feel if it was YOUR brand new D3 and it was Christmas Eve ? I think you'd pretty well grasp at whatever straws you could after spending £3.4K and it wasn't right.

Sometimes inserting a smiley makes you believe you are immune too and you can say what you like on here.

Your wit didn't make ME smile anyway.

Regards,

Zorpie

If it seems too good to be true - then it isn't. If you cannot believe your eyes - then don't.

I am not joking about their misfortune. I am joking about the way they hope to resolve it.

I'd put it in the box and use my other camera. He does have a d200 and that is the same camera I'm stuck with on Christmas Eve. It is not a bad situation to be stuck in. He wasn't all that happy with the D3 anyway.

I think the last thing I'd be doing is posting here hoping to get a resolution. I might be cursing and making phone calls.

Immune to what? Misfortune? Certainly not.

Sorry Zorpie, I've noticed that there are people in this world without the same sense of humor, but I just ignore jokes that don't make me laugh. It makes life better if you do laugh a bit though. You might try it sometime.

certainly hope nikon fix your problem soon

They still would only have placed me on backorder with the 2 bodies,so i would have been no further forward.

I have had a crack at the Eos 1D Mk III and i rejected mine also as unfit (sale of goods act 1979)
merry christmas

Quite right. And thanks for thet i dunno why so many people are gloating over this either.

Let us all hope, that this is a one off problem and it does not go the same way as the poor focusing EOS 1D Mk III (been there, done that) as again all D3's in the world share common parts.

I have a D2hs and that does not do the job as well as a d200 let alone the D3 which other than the faults is brilliant.
Perhaps you actually need to read the post before you criticise.

Shan, perhaps it would be a good idea to quote a little of the post you are replying to. We have to go back over the posts to try and work out which one it was. Happy christmas :o)

With the noisy shutter problem as you mention, my D2h and D2Xs makes amount the same noise as my D3. If you are use to a D200 or a non pro body I don't think you can compare that to a D3. My Leica M3 with 1.4 lens was the quietest body I ever owned.

Many thanks for the info on the noise David.

I compared the D3 to the D2Hs.If it was the same i would have had no problem.

I am not sure why you are the second person to mention the D200 si i will clear this up here and now. I wouldn't buy a D200 personally.
I have used Pro Bodies Since my first Nikon F4S's in early 1984.

I changed to Canon & the CANON EOS 1V HS 's when i was based in london around 1999-2000.

Then in 2002 went back to Nikon whilst working in europe and have been with them since (although i did buy the EOS 1D Mk III 6 weeks ago but the camera was pants!!!)
I don't buy consumer gear other than the 50mm 1.4 lens
We Have This Nikon Gear:
2 x D2Hs
2 x 28-70D ED AFS IF f/2.8
2 x 70-200G AFS IF ED VR f/2.8
1 x 400mm F/2.8 D ED IF AF-S Mk II
1 x 600MM f/4D IF-ED Mk II
1 x D3
4 x SB 800
1 x Nikon AFS 2x Converter TC20E II

We do not use sigma or any other lenses.

No offence is meant to anyone (especially you), but we are not amatures, we have been doing similar stuff for years for employers and then self employed , we all have to rely on our products and when a product fails us we need to know what went wrong.

We can all make mistakes sometimes and i do a lot when confronted with an unexpected result, but we should try to refrain from assuming that that means we don't know what we are doing the rest of the time.
We have a specific market and we know how to present to that market.

I do not enjoy making a big deal of nothing ,if a camera's not right ...its not right

I know the majority of the people on this forum are very very helpful but some have quite frankly got me right on the defensive now!

I am sure that i am not using the 50mm with respect and this is why i am getting poor results but it is still an extremely poor performance for the lens.

persists in using flatview, which completely defeats the point of a
threaded message board.

I wish they'd delete that option
yea, and i wish they'd remove the "width" attribute for the table
housing the forum thread list. Phil must have used an antiquated
14" monitor to develop the orig site and it's been retained.

in the world of 19-30" monitors, it makes no sense to explicitly
restrict the width of the table entity. if i increase the width of my
browser on a 30" widescreen monitor, that table showing the list
of threads should widen also.
