I'm 100% certain that Nikon monitors these forums and responds to any customer queries posted here.

100 per cent.

Why not pick up the phone and go through the usual channels?

Unless I am missing something, I can't imagine what you hope to
achieve with a post in an internet forum?
I agree. First time I've ever seen somebody trying to contact Nikon through an internet public forum. I'd imagine picking up a phone or even contacting them thru their own website would be more efficient and effective ways to contact Nikon.

Then of course, the op can now blame Nikon for not responding, IF, of course, Nikon doesn't respond at all.

last time I spoke to NPS UK they were saying they couldnt look at forums because of there firewalls. They didnt look anyway. Unless you think one of them spends there sunday nights monitoring these forums.

Ring them in the morning, if they are open they may have but its doubtful an NPS loaner D3. Otherwise use your backup. You mentioned a D2hs in a previous post.

If you are not NPS apply on the internet tonight, they will try and help if they can.

Just to be absolutely certain. This failure to focus with the 28-70. Could you be experiencing the problem with lightly touching the lens release button while holding the camera. This has been proved to disable the AF while allowing pictures to be taken. The slightest brush of the button can do it.

Alternatives to try, have you tried the two button reset. If yes have you also tried removing both the main battery and the button cell battery and putting them back again after a minute or so.

General appeal to anyone with a D3 in your area?

FWIW, I have to press the lens release almost halfway in before the AF is disabled.

Good message and a great idea.

You might also try praying, pulling your hair out, shouting out of your window, running around in large and small circles or the trick that worked the best for my daughter when she was two which was lying down in the middle of crowded department stores-tomorrow would be a great day to find crowds-and crying while holding your breath till you turn blue and pass out.

Good luck on any or all of the above and all will be about equally effective. I personally like the turning blue method.

The guy only joined this forum 5 days ago. What do YOU think this means.

Canon users must be pretty PO'd and afraid that they now own junk.

Hi,

Yes, tried it all, and even gave it to another Photographer to try to get going whilst i carried on with a D2Hs.

Its not right and nikon are not answering the phone so i am likely stuffed for the festive season...Bugger!

I was hoping this post might get me a responce from someone who "can Do" something about getting it replaced..fast.
What with the Noisy shutter & LCD failing also...

What exactly are you trying to say?

I have posted the problems i am experiencing with my D3 and hoped that i could find out why it does what it does through others experiences with this camera...I have had more issues develope with the camera and tried to contact Nikon UK to get tgis solved but they dont answer.

My NPS magazine arrived on saturday and it states in it that NIKON monitor the forums to check on the feedback on the D3.

I am hoping that someone in power will see that my D3 is faulty and arrange for me to get sent a replacement as i need it for the christmas period.
I knoew its a long shot but fingers crossed.
If you have nothing constructive to say then don't reply to my posts.
Or have you nothing better to do than irritate me?

Thankyou for that ..this was my last resort before taking it back to the retailer. but if i do, I may well be without any D3 for a month or two as we have not had very many in the UK and backorders are in the 100's with each shop i call.

My lovely retailer does not consider my problems a priority and will continue to fill backorders as the camera's come in.

They had two in stock when i told them that i was having problems and needed a replacement. They told me No they couldn't do that, that they had 2 customer back orders to filll and although the customer was not aware that their order had arrived, they were buying £10,000 worth of lenses with the D3 ????? They didn't want to lose the lenses sale in so many words.

I will have to wait until they had plenty of stock as they have another 85 customers waiting.

They sugested that in order to get on the list again i buy onother one on Credit card. What do you make of that then? A faulty D3 is not a priority after you have parted with your £3400.00.

hi,
They are closed for xmas so no one answers the phone.
The D2Hs are not good enough this is why i bought a D3 the D2 Noise is terrible.

Perhaps you didn't know this but there not answering the phone.
Thats why I said if they are open, it is christmas eve.

You can always use manual focus for you focus problem, stop machine gunning the shots to cut out the noise issue. You have your backup etc,

Dont give me this working on the edge high speed nonsense, some of us have done it for years before the D3 arrived.

Buying another D3 from your dealer who had 2 available might not have been so crazy!

I received a Canon 1D III that refused to initiate autofocus. I bought another one on my credit card and it arrived next morning. In the meantime I rejected the first body as unsatisfactory and they processed my card refund as a separate matter.
