Finally, Finally, Finally!!

Thanks Ruvy,

It was a beautiful day for taking shots. I'm lucky to live next to this big body of water.

Randy :-)
Hi Randi

Iys a beautiful image fantastically framed. All the details and the
colors are so nice and the lighthouse easily serves as an exciting
focal point. I love how all components work so well together. the
water, the sky and clouds together with the rocks and trees

Ruvy

Thanks Eva,

I took a few that day that I like. I haven't had the time to work with them yet. I hope that today I can and print one or two to see how they look.

Randy :-)
Randy,
It's nothing but perfect. Beautiful colours, fantastic DOF, just
gorgeous.
It deserves a huge enlargement.

Eva

Thanks JT,

Let us know when you come and we'll all get together, shoot, eat onion rings at Grandmas and have a couple of cold ones.

Randy :-)
nice shot Randy, I've seen post cards of the lighthouse that
weren't this nice. VERY scenic!
You and Kim are makin me want to come back to Duluth this summer. I
want to take my F707 up to Gooseberry Falls, that's one of my
favorite spots. Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks Dirk,

The sky and clouds are what I've been waiting for. I almost didn't stop though. It was only about 37 degrees and I was, and still am, fighting a cold.

Randy :-)
Hi Randy,

A lovely wideangle shot of this beautifull area. Glad that I could
see it and the blue sky adds to this image.

With kind regards,

Thanks Tammy,

I always enjoy shooting here. It was nice to have some warm sun that day. It was a bit nippy with the air temp around 37 degrees and some wind. The sun and the beautiful sky made up for it though.

Randy :-)
Amazing photo!
I love the colors and angle from which you took this picture. The
sharp focus both up close and back toward the lighthouse is
wonderfu.
Great Job!!!
Thanks,
Tammy

Before anything else, let me apologize for posting very few
comments on pics lately. It's been nuts and I've been under the
weather since Tuesday. I did want to post a pic from today though.
I did get a few nice ones. I was hoping to post more of my spring
runoff pics but haven't gotten around to it and I don't know if I
will get around to post more from today. I hope to though.
Tommorrow I'll be out of town, down Shutters way.

It finally was beautiful out when I was at Split Rock Lighthouse
today. I took many different views as usual. There were finally
some nice clouds. I used a CPL and it sure made a difference when
I would adjust it. It would make those clouds stand out so nice
and clear up the reflections on the water. This is a long shot of
the lighthouse. I did the quick and dirty autolevel and USM of 50
in Adobe PS 6. Please hit "expand width" for full pic.

Randy :-)
This is a wonderful pic. Thanks!

At first glance the depth of field seemed almost infinite to me. The composition and multitude of interesting things to look at kept me so busy that I didn't notice the foreground rock at first at all.

Though by the book types might have a problem with the white clouds leading the eye out of the photo I don't find this problematic in the least.

For me the strongest white cloud group over the light house plays a beautiful triangle with the two whitish rocks in the middle ground and kept my eye moving in circles right on the coast and lighthouse with the occasional trip to see the nice detail in the water and rocks.

The foreground rock blurred ultimitely hurts it for me a bit to be honest; but, I know that is just being unreasonable on my part. :-) Even given that I find it a tremendously nice picture. Thanks...

Randy,

The polarizer and your eye sure were a winner on this fave scene of yours. I just love the clear water in the foreground and the scene overall is worthy of a poster. Great job!

Thanks Mike for that critique and lesson. I mentioned to my wife about the foreground rock and she agreed with you. I have some other shots similar to this one that don't include the rocks up close. I'll have to look at them and see if I prefer one of them instead.

Thanks Robert,

I have this one printed out as an 8X10 and it looks pretty good. The polarizer really came in handy that day.

Hi Randy,

As I recollect well this is one of your favourite spots, well I think it would be the favourite spot of many, well most certainly it would be mine.

This time you succeeded in a very 'icey looking foreground, the small puddles with the crystal clear water and the fine shape of the coastal border line, crowned by the very scenic light house,

jacques.
