PayPal Alert!

I opened free account at my bank to use for varifications and
transfers, etc. It has a debit card with small limit and I do all my
auction business with it.

I perfer PP over eBay's services. I got varified just after opening
PP account, and have never had a problem. Good communication when
transactions take place. Transfers to my account are made quickly
and I am notified (I do transfer as I am paid).

Realize that the freezing of your account was probably for your own
protection as they had to varify who was requesting funds. Would
you not be more upset if they had allowed someone access that
should not have been allowed access?

Good luck in the future.
===========

I've used PP for several transactions and remain very pleased. In fact, I tried to buy a C-2100 from an e-bay seller and sent my cash thru PP but seller never sent the camera. I asked PP to reverse it and, after several nervous days, was pleased to see that the cash had been transferred back to my accout. I transferred all but $100 back to my checking account and have been winding down the remaining balance since....

I've only used it once with no problems. But, I don't see any need to become "verified" at this time. If I have occasion to use it again in the future and have to verified, I'll open a new checking account with little or no funds and use it for my verification. I guess it pays to always be cautious...

Ken there is a toll free number you can call on their site. I have never had a problem with Paypal. If you go back and look I am sure you will find the toll free number. If not email me at [email protected] and I will go look it up for you!

Just a warning about PayPal. I sold an item to someone and he paid
by PayPal. It was only $40.00 and it went into my paypal account.
It has been there 2 months and I thought nothing of it until I
tried to donate $25.00 to Pbase. It said my account was restricted!
and I had to send bank statement, drivers license, utility bill and
also they made 2 deposits to my checking account for verification,
all this to send my own money! Well in the end they locked my out
of my account period. No phone # to call and just automatic return
e-mails to any inquiry I make. They all tell me to log in which of
course I can't because they locked my account. After some research
I came up wth the following web site.
If you have an account with them check this out

I thought this was a legit company, but boy am I wrong.

Everyone go to Paypal and find Waldo and the 800#. Good Luck
Also as far as alternatives try
http://www.paypalwarning.com/Alternatives/Default.htm
One of the alternatives is CitiBank. This warning page even states jokeingly

c2it.com is probably the most similar payment service to Paypal. They are operated by Citibank, a real FDIC insured bank. Here is a test: Quick, find the http://www.c2it.com telephone number. Ok, now find Paypal's.

I remember searching for paypal's phone number and getting frustrated because I couldn't find it. I think I finally found it under the user agreement somewhere between page 1 to page 50 :( No experience with c2it. Marty

Paul,

You are right, but did you have that #. Go to their web site and try and find that or any other contact #. They put me thru many hoops for a cpl of weeks via auto response e-mail. I had used them in the past with no problems until this happened. Once shame on them, twice shame on me.
There will not be a twice.

Look up to the second or third post. It's from Jim. He gave you
the 800 number yesterday.

Lets face it Ken this is a smear campaign because you personally have had a problem and could not find the number which is plainly on the Paypal site under help.

Jason,

I looked under help and the only phone # is to American Stock Transfer & Trust Company. Give me the web page address where the # is visable.

Took me about 5 minutes or less to find the information..

It appears to me you really do not want the number to resolve your problem but you want an argument. You took the time to complain and research and post a complaint site but you did not bother to look for the number.

I did what you asked but I will not post the URL from inside my personal account for obvious security reasons. Follow these steps and you can find the toll free number posted on their site with no problems.

1. Log into your account
2. Click on help
3. Go to the bottom of the right side and click on contact us.
4. It will put up a list of areas that you can choose from to send them email.
5. Just under that list the toll free number is posted.
6. Should take less than 3 mins to find it.

Case Closed! Point and Match!

Hey why didn't I think of that. Look for contact # on page 5 of the user agreement. I guess I call that # for my 800#. Paul you have to admit that it is not good customer service, when you bury a contact # in a large user agreement. Thats nuts.

I think we have beat this # thing to death. I really was'nt able to find that # when I was going thru the BS with them. All I can say is, I had a bad experience and I really do not know why.
Thanks,
Ken P

Ken,

I don't know about you, but I at least scan (not read, but scan) user agreements where my checking account information and my money is concerend.

I'll agree that would not be the first place I look, but when there is no other apparent place to find the info, that is where I would go next.

But if you sell on ebay it's better. I've been verified for quite a while and have used them many times buying and selling and have never had a problem. I think someone said they're on the stock market now. If they are does anyone have their ticker symbol?

Yes, they're on the NASDAQ and they announced two days ago that their profits were way up. Symbol is PYPL.

I used Paypal for about a year with no problems whatsoever. Then I got a letter from my bank saying my credit card may have been "compromised." I'm assuming that some website that has my credit card info (Amazon, Buy.com, Paypal, whoever) was hacked. The bank wouldn't tell me what site it was. So the bank cancelled by card and issued a new card. So I went to Paypal and tried to use the card and they won't accept it (the NEW card). I talked to them on the phone about half a dozen times and always get the line that it should be corrected in about a week. It's been months......I gave up.
