Hello Wick... thanks. Nothing was replace in the picture. This was from a 5 shot bracketed exposure on a tripod.. so there was not much motion blur to speak of.I think the color and saturation in the rocks and lighthouse look
great but for an HDR the sky behind the trees in the top right and
the cloud in the middle of the fame seem a bit bright. Were the sky
and water replaced with single images to prevent motion or blur?
Thanks for the cc... I understand what you mean... and this was the look I was going for. The other one which was well exposed all around was just to bland for my taste.Allthough it has nice colors, it just looks too fake for my taste.
Some may like these "overdone" HDR, but it is looks too "put
together".

I use it myself often. But just dont overdo it. But like you say it is a matter of taste. Thanks for the cc... I understand what you mean... and this was the
look I was going for. The other one which was well exposed all
around was just to bland for my taste.
yesIt does look a bit fake though doesn't it? Like something was added
or cropped in.![]()
This was my first thought, as well. Overall the composition is nice, but the image has a fake quality to it.Allthough it has nice colors, it just looks too fake for my taste.

Thanks Jeff....Excellent HDR. It's art people, everything does not have to look
realistic. The world is not black and white, but you don't see people
on these forums complaining that the B&W pics look "fake" or
unrealistic.
Good point. I'll work on it a little bit so that it doesn't burn out. I see what you mean. Thanks for that very useful tip!I never let anyone know if I use HDR or not. It's how the pic turns
out that is important and this one looks pretty OK. I would have
worked a bit more on the final version tho, there are a couple of
rocks on the right that are just plain burnt out...Not so
objectionable in the clouds where it is to be expected but I like my
highlights to have texture...Just a suggestion...Elery

--Hi Leung,
I like the overall effect of HDR in your picture. Contrast and
saturation are not over the top.
The highlights in the clouds are still a little blown out. If you
shot NEF, you
can probably make a darker version (-1.5) in NX to use in your sequence.
I am still experimenting with Photomatix and the single RAW method.
Using a
-1.5 normal and +1.5 version from the same file works surprisingly
well for landscapes.
With tonemapping settings of: strength 40 and color saturation 50, I
get very natural looking results:

Thanks Morris.... I dunno, I bracketed, I merged and viola! Highlights! Isn't that kool?Highlight ishues in a HDR? How did that happen Mr. Leong. Other
than that minor glitch, this is lovly.

Thnaks for the reference! This was my first thought, as well. Overall the composition is nice,Allthough it has nice colors, it just looks too fake for my taste.

but the image has a fake quality to it.
Consider taking a look at this thread for an example of a
exceptionally well done HDR:
