I am finally getting my online portfolio going by trying out new and different things that are to my liking. I ask you all to please check it out and let me know what you think. Fair warning, you might need a high speed connection to view properly because the image size is still pretty big. I made it like that because i didn't want to loose the quality of the image when comverted from RAW to JPG.

I like the shots and the dog is so cute :).

It does take a bit of time and sometimes the buttons don't work probably because the next image takes too much time loading. Try giving the user some feedback when the next image is ready to be viewed.
Keep up the good work
Cheers!

Hi,

I'm on a 20MBit connection, and the site took, literally, minutes to load. This will without doubt scare away most of your audience by default. Try using preloaders instead of loading all of it at once, and give the user an opportunity of knowing whay is happening. Before you send out this link to potential customers, I would strongly advise you to fix all the bugs of the interface.

Photos are good! :)

Hi,

the photos are quite good and so is the presentation, but I prefer to have thumbnails to allow me to preview what is in the album/gallery. Knowing about how many and what type of photos are behind the next button is somehow comforting. Also, I clicked on the "next" button under the first picture and then clicked in the same spot whithout looking for the second picture, not realizing that the "prev" button had appeared under my mouse - naturally I was back at the first picture. I would suggest showing the previous button on the first photo, but make it inactive when there is no previous picture so that the viewer is able to keep clicking in the same spot to view the next photo.

Did you create your site on your own or did you use some sort of package to create it? I recently setup a similar site using jalbum and the FotoPlayer skin - both free though FotoPlayer put's up a "trial version" window if you don't buy the license for it. (You could always look at the FotoPlayer code for some ideas on.)

I created the site on my own and I appreciate all your feedbacks. I will fix the page and the thumb nails idea is not a bad one. I will see if my skills are good enough to add that in. Thanks.

Shes as cute as buttons!

I love the one of her lying down looking towards bottom right, its almost soft and blurry but sharp at the same time, ever so nice. She looks an excellent subject.

My 2 dogs failed me, I got my 400d, I paid them a bonio each to be my subjects for a while and I got about 15 minutes of them, and one, basically would sit, look cute but the moment I moved the camera kept running to me, so none of those came out the way I wanted.

Believe me when I tell you that those pictures were hard to take. It was like a hit and miss. I shot over 100 pictures and only put up like 10-12. Pets are hard to take pictures of. especially puppies.

Ok I finally updated the site where the scenes should run properly. I put in a preloader so that everything would load before the movie is played. Let me know your thoughts. Thumb nails were not put in becuase i am not sure at this time if I want that.

Im thinking thumbnails maybe essentail as your site - for whatever reason, Im only getting 14k/s and its taking an eternity to download its doing about 1% a second as it seems to be loading all pictures up front.

What kind of connection do you have? I'm guessing i need to cut the quality of the images down, but then i will loose the sharpness of the photos. Any suggestions?

8mb dsl - hence the comment, I cant explain well why it would have only come in at 14k/s but, I guess the sympathy for the lesser gifted downloaders is brought to mind.

I think it would be hard to come up with a good way to display many photos without some form of thumbnail, but what maybe you can do is after enough of a % that you have the first whole photo, continue the loading of the others, but display the first, so the continue to download, but, at least the first is shown when its available.. would take a bit of coding, but it should be doable. % downloaded vs quantity of photos, as you can only do next/prev if you load in order, its not like they can jump to photo 8... That might work quite well as they might view photo 3 or so before photo 8 is finished downloading, gives a good fake feel of speed that way.
