Samsung NV11 - opinions from users + sample pics?

And is what Samsung are USUALLY Striving Against !! - it's plastered with unrefined detail killing noise reduction and the lens seems terrible - this is the opposite of the way samsung have been going with the L85 and S850 etc ..

What you're seeing with the NV3 isn't true, it's processed with NR and the life sapped out of it

I put my hands on the NV11 and NV10. I didn't really have a chance to shoot w/ them. Just a quick hands on. Verdict: NV10 wins!

The NV10 is so compact I can't resist. I know this is the type of camera I would be able to carry around all the time, in my pocket, and that's why I'm looking at a compact now. The extra features of NV11 I don't care (except ISO80 would be nice obviously). The NV11 size w/ the lens sticking out just doesn't make it as easy to carry around, like I'd need a bag, and if I do, then I won't carry the camera ;)

I compared NV10 vs NV11 pic quality (100 ISO vs 80 ISO) and it's very close. The noise level at 100 looks acceptable. It reminds me of scanning some 200 ISO films with a nikon IV coolscan. It can be denoised w/o losing much sharpness (I wish the NV has a RAW mode, that would be even better).

Anyway, bottomline: excellent build quality and user interface, super compact, cheap, decent image quality when it comes to noise, a priori nice auto WB (+ very easy to setup a custom, which is a must since there's no RAW) and very good metering from what I read (very important since there's unfortunately no histogram).

Can't wait to get my hands on it now, fun time ahead!

A nice wide angle zoom on these NV cameras...or even, dare I say a super wide 24mm-120mm odd, that would do nicely.

Throw some RAW in a small buffer...bingo..happy days.......;-)

ahah, the day I receive my NV10 (today!), Samsung annouces a new series!

Well, interesting that they're going back to everything on the 3X lens (much more compact).

Wel, NV20 I'll get in september when it comes out if I'm happy with my NV10 (and if NV20 is any better than the NV11 in pic quality). In the meantime I do need my NV10 for a coming vacation soon.

I wonder if the NV8 will have better IQ given it is 8mpixels on the same 1/1.76" ccd as the NV11 and NV20.

Looking forward to reviews of the NV8.

hello you!

i fell in love with the NV11 and i´m thinking about buying it. it´ll be my first digitalcamera so i´m not very experienced in this topic. what is very important for me is that the camera is very fast in taking pictures- (i´m not a native speaker-sorry for my lack of vocabulary...:) ) i mean the time that passes after i pressed the button and got the picture... and do you know how long the camera néeds to "relax" befor i can take the next shot???

thanks for any help!!!!

The "lag" time for the NV11 is not too bad for a small sensor camera. It depends on the mode you're in and if you're using flash. In dim light the auto focus takes a little longer and also if you're aiming at certain subjects that it has troubling focusing on...for example someone with an afro, the auto focus has more trouble. Otherwise, the lag time is maybe 1/10th of a second in my estimation.

The processing time is variable. That's the time the camera takes after you depress the shutter and a message appears on the LCD....processing image.... Most of the time, I don't get that message, but at other times, it can last a few seconds. I'm not sure what triggers that. You don't have to hold the camera still as it has already captured the image. I use the SanDisk Extreme III card. Other cards may affect the processing time.

If you want a speedier camera with no lag...get a digital SLR with a big sensor.
