D60

Finland is in EEC and EU. Tax is 22 %, and that somewhat explains the higher price (e.g. 16 % in Germany).

Whats the tax in Finland, Finland is in the EEC ? Thinking of a
quick trip !

Hi Mikael,

What's the firmware version on your D60?
Firmware Ver. 1.0.0
I got my D60 about four hours ago. I think mine was the first sold
in Finland. The camera came with one battery, charger, cables and
neckstrap. Somehow the software and manual were missing and I'll
get them in a week. My old D30 software isn´t working with the D60
so I have to use a card-reader and shot only jpegs amd open them up
in PS6. My first impression is that the AF is really better
although it still hunts in very low light. I mean really low! The
red focus point helps a lot and the first shots with 400 iso showed
very little noise. 100 iso was looking very sharp and detailed and
I can hardly wait to see the raw files.

Hope you all get yours very soon!

Beware of a scam here guys.

This guy potentially could be planting the bug of excitement and then trying to connect us to a "store" in Finland that in fact does not have any D60s. Don't spend a dime until this guy takes a picture of himself in a mirror or something with this D60 of his.

Mikael - I appreciate your post and don't think I'm trying to offend you - but if you are indeed simply excited to receive your camera and are sharing the news of that with us, then please allay our "scam concerns" by posting some pics of the camera or yourself with the camera.

Most of all though, enjoy the D60 and all the potential it holds within its technology. We sure do have life better than the photographers of even ten and twenty years ago. :)

Take care,

I donno, I mean who'd ever believe someone would have such a dumb dog?

Also, as for the price: seems high, but I think that's the 'list' price. No one in the USA charges list (except for the very latest, hard to get... er, never mind).

Give him a break,

Just because you are upset that you don't have your D60 and he got his don't offend him in your posts.

This is another DejaVu. When I got my D30 a week ahead of anyone else on this forum some people asked for the same; post some pics of myself with the camera.....
You will have your camera in a week or so, believe me....

even tho it came in such a surprise. By reading his posts word by word, I dont see him set up any trap. Of course, it would clarify a lot if he could post some photos of this D60 ...

Mikael,

Pardon me a moment while I wipe a tear of joy from my eye. I had a very sad parting with my D30 (into the mail) today and the timing of your announcement convinces me that once again, life is worth living (I'm kidding here, folks).

Now, where did I put that State Street telephone number? #26, #26, #26... Please let them get more than 26 in the first shipment! I'll definitely sleep better tonight. Truthfully, thanks for sharing and please post some photos!!

This would make Mikaels D60 what?? Scamware???

I wonder how many will seriously attempt to buy the D60 in Finland, anyway?

I'd love to see some user photos if possible. These shots often very revealing about what the camera will do "out of the box" and thus are much more valuable than professional review shots to me.

I and other finnish photographers ;-)
Hah haa. For the price difference I'll shop in Germany (if I ever do).
Sorry Canon Finland, you are overpricing.

D30 was/is in Germany about 2500 Euro including the taxes
(a normal kit) while D30 was about 4500 Euro (Pro kit).
Even with 1GB drive, grip and extra bettery (which I believe
belong to the pro-kit) D30 was available for less than 3500Euro
in Germany (including VAT, as always in European prices).

But now German price is still over 3000Euro so I'm not in a hurry.
