Beth,

Definitely the second for me. Perfectly framed subject matter. I also think that it would make as one of those duotone (?) photos turned to art by leaving the birds in color and everything else b&w. Sorry but I have yet to make one of those type of conversion so I can't really help with that. I think that by doing that, it would beat having to have a completely OOF background. It might even be trick to do the reflection that way. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for stopping and commenting, Les. Stu had the same idea and I like it. May give it a try once I find directions for doing it. Have never done anything like it either.

In this case the colour one is my prefered one. The bigger size version on your site looks great, and I love the reflections in the water as they look quite abstract.

Cheers,
Menno

I feel the same way. As a full B&W, the birds get lost.

THanks,

Beth you know what would be cool is black and white with the birds
in color. Just a thought.

hi beth

i guess i'm the odd man out; i prefer the bw version : ). renders the subject matter somehow more dark and detached in an interesting way. i'd also find interesting to see a bw hybrid if you're up for attempting that. i guess i can say it as 'as an art piece the bw, as a document of a specific occurence in time and space, i'd go with the color.' i think either way you go, you cant lose : ).

just looking it at more and more, i think the bw renders the filigreed tendrils of the trees reflections, and the delicacy of the feathers (all of which you've really gotten in focus, btw!) far more finely than in the color and thats' what im responding to.

thanks again

Hi Kollin,

Thanks for your thoughts. If you look at them both in the largest version, it makes quite a difference! Until you see the b&w version in a large size, it's hard to see what you're referring to.
