Called Canon Irvine today. These caps are backordered with a wait time of 3 - 4 weeks. Anyone else know where else to get them? I suppose I could call the mid-west and east coast Canon shops but I'm guessing if they are backordered for one shop they are backordered for the others.

Also, an update on the RRS L plates. Called RRS today and they said they are currently being machined and the ETA for shipping to customers is between the 20th and 27th this month.

What do you mean? Is it that knurled cap on the side just to the left of the bottom of the LCD? I've heard they come out, but haven't had an issue - - yet.

The thinga-ma-bob (technical term) that sits on the lower left side of camera adjacent to the rectangular rubber doohickies (another technical term). It's fallen out on a bunch of Mark IIIs so far, mine included. I ordered 5 for the inevitable losses down the road. I have a very fashionable piece of red/yellow paper taped as a cover right now... :) Canon's rep called it a Toe Cap today. Weird. The manual calls it the System Terminal Cap or Terminal System Cap something like that...

no problems. In fact, I can barely move it though I did unscrew it once just to see what would happen. Nothing has happened over the next 1,000 frames. Story of my life, I guess.
