Another to play with

It looks like you increased the contrast and color. Is that correct?
Thank you.
Yes, I used a little dodge and burn (more burn on the dress). USM 10% 90pixels to increase local contrast. Then lifted the shadows using shadows/highlights. Lighting effects to brighten the eyes. Finally high pass sharpening after resize. BTW, nice genes ckb.

I hope you don't mind, I made her a redhead ; )

Pretty daughter!

Peano, your work on her eyes is spectacular. Very humbling to see
what you can do to improve an image. Thanks for posting your layers
palette, very informative.......Ralph

ckb, here are the main steps:

Eyes -- selected them with the magic wand and then did a simple brightness/contrast adjustment to make them stand out a little more. Also, later used the Sharpen Tool to quickly give them added emphasis.

Hair -- I smudged it with a technique that I saw first here in this forum. I love the way smudged hair looks sometimes. I haven't done it often so I was just experimenting. But I like how it came out so I kept it.

Skin -- just did extremely minor corrections with the healing brush, specifically lightened some shadows under her eyes and took away the tiniest of blemishes on the lower right part of her face.

I also used an assortment of filters in this order --

Nik Reflector Gold filter -- this is what produced the red tones.

LucisArt Wyeth -- used the first button at 30

Nik Sunshine filter -- Applied it lightly, then lowered the opacity on that layer to 28%

PS's Diffuse Glow filter -- used a small amount, then set opacity of that layer to 20% and set the mode to Hard Light

PS's Anisotropic filter -- applied this at the very end

If you want an uncompressed tiff of the final or need any further explanations, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks, lylejk,

I used Photoshop CS2 with the clone pattern stamp and one grunge brush. I posted a jpg of the brush in the "Tulips" thread if you're interested.

I'm on a painting kick all of a sudden, lol.

Peano, I have no idea how you get such clear detail of the eyes. My try is far short of what you have done but I have to keep practicing......Ralph

When I get a little spare time, I'll try to post something that zooms in and deals with nitty-gritty details.

Thank you, RPease

Quite a while back I browsed Inno and when I tried to join I got a message that one had to be approved and I had to write to the admin about myself telling why I wanted to join. I didn't feel like writing a letter that day.

I'll try again soon, I know there are many talented members and I'm sure I'd enjoy it.

Thanks again,
