Forget the cost, what camera would get tomorrow if price were not a factor? (and it was in stock:)

What is your dream camera?

Ok, I've said it before, maybe a camera company is listening.

A Fuji 12/12mpix sensor in a modular body. Remote live view lcd panel with camera controls around the edges. This could attach to the main body like a traditional camera or be removed for when the camera is on a tripod or at very low or very high shooting positions. Wireless connection to the main body would be great, but even tethered would be cool. Lcd size would be three inches diagonal (optional larger size panel available for those who want to spend the extra. Perhaps seven inch. That would be a great studio interface.)

Just wishing. I am not a huge fan of SLR design. I much prefer live view look down capability like a TLR or medium format. SLR style is much more aggressive toward the subject. Like pointing a weapon. I know that others don't feel that way. Just my personal wish.

I am lovin' the S5 but to use it for commercial stuff I would love it if it had more resolution..and if I shot sports or in RAW I suppose I would want it to be faster...but for what I do currently I am really pleased...I was seriously considering a Leica M8 but the initial reviews freaked me out....

--It is of course the MKIII and I'm #2 on my local pro shop's list.

I'm also hoping that they step up to the plate and build a true semi-pro class APS-C camera ala the 40D maybe (with DNA from both the MKIII and the 30D). That would make for a great back-up camera.

Regards...

Russ

Hi Gary,

An S5 with build in VR, (man I'm getting shaky) and maybe a little faster but with a D200 body (quality) styled ala S3. (why do they drop a good thing once they have it) I love the S3 ergonomics. ;-))

Best regards, Ed

I posted this same question in three boards: Nikon, Canon and here. The Canon and Fuji boards both jumped right in with positive comments and heartfelt wishes about what they want and what the camera makers should make them. The Nikon board question is totality silent. Not a peep.

The Nikon users are quite upset that this is not a year to give them new bigger guns. They are all quite sad. I wonder why Nikon is not pushing a pro line like Fuji & Canon are doing?

One component in my waiting on the S5 was to see what Nikon was going to put out. If they were going to put out a full frame this summer, I would be dumb to start a Canon glass collection.

Fuji's S5 sensor, Canon 1D MarkIII performance, Canon 1Ds MarkII resolution, D2x body since it fits so nice in my hand.

Yep. That would do it for me.

It's a matter of the digital back I can't afford !!!

I'm telling you you are missing this application, look for a medium format , maybe 645 and digital back. If you want to blow some cash, this will get you the best resolution in a workable body. my RB is a large clunky thing but some of the 645s are not...

Look into it, meanwhile take my other suggestion as well and learn some lighting and post processing, it will go futher than anything else to getting you great images.

Best regards,
David

A compact with Fuji's SR sensor and processing. I own a Leica Minilux 35mm and wish everyday that I could transplant a Fuji sensor into it.
