Challenge #11 theme will be…… " M A C R O S"

,....the crowd goes cRaZy ! ! ! ! !!!

Please read this rule carefully…
Technical Rules:

Entries into this challenge DO NOT technically need to be executed in “macro mode” on your digi camera. But the photo must portray “just as” close as a macro.

For example, my Strawberry Splash was not shot in macro but the POTD sites accepted it in the macro category because it portrayed the closeness of a macro…. “just as”.

Theme Definition:

So, the courtship is over. Time to get up close and personal. Lets see detail. Lets see texture. Lets see things that makes you wanna say wow! Lets knock Nikon off its pedistal and catapult SONY to be the new king of macros!

Rules for Challenge # 11
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

1) The Challenge is open ("open period") from Feb 11th 2002 12:01am EST(midnight tonite) to
Feb 23rd 2002 11:59 pm EST

2) The “Eligible” Photo Category is open only to Sony digiCams and only for photos taken during the "open period" of this Challenge. The “Exhibition” Photo Category is open to all Cameras and for photos taken at any time. A gallery will be provided for each category, please post your photo in the appropriate category gallery.

3) You may post a total of 3 pictures in each Challenge category for a combined total of six photos.

4) Upload your photos to "pbase" with username "stfchallenge" and password "stfpost".

5) For the “Eligible” category, entries should provide the Date the photo was taken, the Sony digiCam model used.
Artists may wish to label their thumbnail anyway they see fit.

Artists may wish to enter anonymously if they so choose. NOTE: if posting anonymously, artist must input their name on their photo after the voting has completed. I would prefer inputting artists name at time of vote. I leave the choice up to you.

6) VOTING will follow after the end of challenge. For easier tabulation, voting will take place on a "new"' thread and will be open for aprox 48hours.
7) There are no limitations to creativity using any photo editing software.

8) Criticism. Challenge posters enjoy sharing their photos, and we all enjoy encouragement and compliments. However, not all may seek unrequested citicism of their photos. We want to keep the Challenge as enjoyable for all as possible. Thus, if you are a poster who seeks critical comments on how others would have done your photo differently, please place the words “Critical comments appreciated” in the caption section of the edit image page. If you would like to leave a comment, please be sure you see the above before you leave your message if your comments are of a critical nature. It is the sole discretion of the artist to keep or delete any critical comments about their own photographs.

9) Gallery integrity. Please do not change the structure of the gallery or the the order of photos after they are posted. New photos should be appended to the end of the list of existing photos. This reduces confusion and allows viewers to continue viewing where they left off. Also, please not change a photo’s title or format, unless you are the photographer who made that photo. If you are replacing an earlier posting of a photograph with a revised copy of the same photograph, please place the revised copy in the same position the original was located.

10) In all cases the decisions of the host are final in matters relating to their Challenge.

Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Now this is a theme I can really sink my teeth into (note to self...strawberries idea already taken). I'm sooooo relieved it's not 'sports' and that I don't have to lead a female uprising! (and I guess we can include some guys, too...Shay and Eric!) LOVE the theme...I'm gonna be busy, cuz macros are what I'm really into right now...oh, yeah! Nee (Uh, did I miss something in the clues? I'll have to go back and re-read them...)

The only clue was "Nikon" being king. Nikon digis have been the macro camera for quite some time because of their ability to take macros from 2mm. Well guess what...so can the 707. Not sure of the other Sonys, but its time to show the world what our Sonys can also do!!!

You got that right Jim!

Theres been a litle bit of macro work in the last few challenges and i think its time to dedicate a whole challenge just to macros.

Theres going to be some amazing images for sure and to make sure everyone participates i gave just a little longer time frame to do the work.

I hate this idea for a challenge. I'll do terrible. I don't have any ideas. Competition will be too tough.

Okay, have I lowered everyone's expectations enough???

Now to find something amusing, far out, and Black and White to please this group!

Dee
Challenge #11 theme will be?? " M A C R O S"

,....the crowd goes cRaZy ! ! ! ! !!!

Well...the good news is I LOVE doing macros...the bad news is my DA's in the shop for the DLS fix, so unless I get it back earlier than expected, I'll have to sit this one out, tapping my fingers and toes, bouncing my foot impatiently...it's gonna be frustrating!

I will post some in exhibition taken prior to the Challenge period.

Hi,

Want this is as a new post, it's getting buried.

Lisa
Challenge #11 theme will be…… " M A C R O S"

,....the crowd goes cRaZy ! ! ! ! !!!

Please read this rule carefully…
Technical Rules:
Entries into this challenge DO NOT technically need to be executed
in “macro mode” on your digi camera. But the photo must portray
“just as” close as a macro.
For example, my Strawberry Splash was not shot in macro but the
POTD sites accepted it in the macro category because it portrayed
the closeness of a macro…. “just as”.

Theme Definition:
So, the courtship is over. Time to get up close and personal. Lets
see detail. Lets see texture. Lets see things that makes you wanna
say wow! Lets knock Nikon off its pedistal and catapult SONY to be
the new king of macros!

Rules for Challenge # 11
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

1) The Challenge is open ("open period") from Feb 11th 2002 12:01am
EST(midnight tonite) to
Feb 23rd 2002 11:59 pm EST

2) The “Eligible” Photo Category is open only to Sony digiCams and
only for photos taken during the "open period" of this Challenge.
The “Exhibition” Photo Category is open to all Cameras and for
photos taken at any time. A gallery will be provided for each
category, please post your photo in the appropriate category
gallery.
3) You may post a total of 3 pictures in each Challenge category
for a combined total of six photos.
4) Upload your photos to "pbase" with username "stfchallenge" and
password "stfpost".
5) For the “Eligible” category, entries should provide the Date the
photo was taken, the Sony digiCam model used.
Artists may wish to label their thumbnail anyway they see fit.
Artists may wish to enter anonymously if they so choose. NOTE: if
posting anonymously, artist must input their name on their photo
after the voting has completed. I would prefer inputting artists
name at time of vote. I leave the choice up to you.
6) VOTING will follow after the end of challenge. For easier
tabulation, voting will take place on a "new"' thread and will be
open for aprox 48hours.
7) There are no limitations to creativity using any photo editing
software.
8) Criticism. Challenge posters enjoy sharing their photos, and we
all enjoy encouragement and compliments. However, not all may seek
unrequested citicism of their photos. We want to keep the Challenge
as enjoyable for all as possible. Thus, if you are a poster who
seeks critical comments on how others would have done your photo
differently, please place the words “Critical comments appreciated”
in the caption section of the edit image page. If you would like to
leave a comment, please be sure you see the above before you leave
your message if your comments are of a critical nature. It is the
sole discretion of the artist to keep or delete any critical
comments about their own photographs.
9) Gallery integrity. Please do not change the structure of the
gallery or the the order of photos after they are posted. New
photos should be appended to the end of the list of existing
photos. This reduces confusion and allows viewers to continue
viewing where they left off. Also, please not change a photo’s
title or format, unless you are the photographer who made that
photo. If you are replacing an earlier posting of a photograph with
a revised copy of the same photograph, please place the revised
copy in the same position the original was located.
10) In all cases the decisions of the host are final in matters
relating to their Challenge.
