I was able to get a shutter actuation count from my D200, I was one of the first few on this forum when I received the D200 last December.
So far I have 8661 actuations (Hobby quite low IMO)

So what is your count?
I’d love to know and with this free program anyone can get an accurate figure.

I've had my D200 for 9 months and have only got 4483 shutter clicks. Haven't done nearly enough shooting, but then I don't use my camera as a 5fps video camera :-)

Hi Pieter,

I can't believe some of the numbers here although considering most here are Pro/semi pro I suppose it’s hardly surprising.

As a hobbyist I'm reluctant to hammer the camera in an attempt to prolong life, I also rarely use the 5fps.
Just hope my plan works!

5958 since November 01.

I am passed the 1/20th mark to shutter death........

When I read some posts on the life expectancy of the d200 being 100,000 about a month ago, I put the camera back in the bag and got the video camera out! jk

If you need to get the shutter replaced, is that a major operation & is it costly?

Very costly, in the $300-400 area.

Anyone know of a program like this for Mac OSX?

In about 13 months with my D2hs I've taken:
Total Number of Shutter Releases for Camera = 458194

On my D2X only about 1/3 that amount.

Don't worry about wearing out your shutter. On my D70 's, which were said to be rated for 50,000 clicks I averaged a little over 100,000 shots per shutter (410,000 shots and broke the shutter 4 times), so if the D200 is rated at 100,000 shots my guess would be you should get twice that many shots before, on average, your shutter will go.
