Ok, so being completely disappointed with the image quality of 17-40 f4 on my 20d I started to look for some replacement. Here what I found: EF 24mm f2.8 and 24-105mm f4 IS L. The price difference is huge, but does 24-105 produces much better image quality at 24mm? The thing is I do understand obvious advantages of using stabilized and so on 24-105, but I am on my budget and what I really need is wide-angle since I've got normal lens as well as 70-200 f2.8 L

No, the 24/f2.8 is very good.

Its barely a wide angle on the 1.6 crop but it works well as an indoor 'walk around' lens.

Well, what I need is at least some wide-angle lens at reasonable price tag and if they do not exist I will have to get 24-105 since they are all-purpose and IS.

Yes, it is kind of 38 mm or something, but I do not see any point of buying EF-S lens since It is obvious I will have to upgrade to full- size sensor camera one day.

Why is it obvious??
I think that is where all technology is going. It is allready a challenge to make low-noise 10 mpx sensor for 4/3 and I believe somewhere around 14 mpx is nearly maximum you can sqeeze from APS-sized sensor preserving ability to shoot 800 ISO.
What about 20mm 1.8 Sigma?
Is it any good?
