I was in Frankenstein’s laboratory (R1 imgs)

Wonder what it will all bring at auction when he goes upstairs to meet the big guy?

Marion & Mz Fancy Katt, wish you good shooting.

I used my H5 to get Alan to admit me to the Duck Club. 1758 in my possession also.

Busch! I have a special place in my heart for hams! My dad was W7UIV and can't remember Granddad's. My dad has gone on to heaven and his headstone says Calling CQ....
Sigh.

Photography makes the impossible possible....you can capture a moment, freeze it in time and keep it forever!

thank you very much!

This collection is really something. I knew Alfred had a collection but had never seen it. He asked me to come by and take a couple of shots for his family photo album. I was totally upprepared for what greeted me! I really need to go back and do it right.

He also has a couple of other collections that are pretty special.

lol ! couldnt stop laughing
There was a guy who appeared on a show in the UK showing off his rubber dog turd collection , you've never seen so much Plastic Poo in one place at one time, even painted metal and papier mache ones from the 1950s etc ! ..
Different strokes for different folks I guess ;-)

Ham radio is a very interesting hobby and I used to be very, very active; especially in DX work. Now I do photography and radio controlled model airplanes. I'm a bit of a nut with sailplanes (real and models) and I suspect my RIP will read "caught the ultimate thermal"! ;-)

thanks much for looking!

A lot of his stuff is really worth something. It is actually a history of electrical power in this area. He also has a couple of other collections that are probably worth even more. I suspect at least part of his collections will end up in museums or public displays.

Don't need any rubber ones as we have the real thing! ;-)

Problem with the rubber ones is they don't have that downhome aroma.

thanks very much!

All I can say is that I took the R1 and not the A100.

However, I'm starting to really like the A100.....

Great collection and wonderful pix. I noticed in the 3rd pic some test leads hanging on the wall...they used ceramic insulation w/o a cotton cover. I wonder if the cotton rotted into oblivion or they were made like that?

thanks very much!

I would guess they were made that way and were used with the converter. Alfred mentioned it ran very hot and I would guess anything less than ceramic would burn. My best guess.

What a fun collection. A sort of history of how people solve technical problems given the available knowledge and constraints, I like it. I shall follow with interest if you do show more detailed shots of the collection.

Thanks

Dan

For me, taking a picture is a way of slowing down and seeing the world more deeply.

thanks very much!

His place is a gadet hunters heaven! Every time I turn around there is another one that is more interesting than the previous one. I'm even learning a few things along the way.

Love it, splendid pics - looking forward to see some more.
