I just got confirmation of a refund for my return of a Nikon 5000 -- a really faulty camera IMHO. Now I'd like to get a Canon G2 at around $750. I've checked, B&H, CameraWorld, and Adorama. They're all out of stock. Anywhere else you can recommend?

Please go to pricegrabber.com and check out the prices and availablity. Be very careful from which merchant you purchase.

Also, try techbargains.com. Go to the coupon section. Click on it and look for Dell which sometimes has a 20% sale and often a 10% sale. I purchased a Nikon 775, the G2, and the S40 from Dell at bargain prices. Great company, trustworthy, but their custom service needs to be reorganized.

You'll love the G2.

Damn, I must have got the last one from B&H yesterday. I had it sent overnight fedex and am getting it today. I was going to recommend them but it sounds like you allready tried them. Sorry..

Cameraworld will have them this Friday they tell me. $750 plus a free 32 meg card. Have bought from them before and they are great.

They are getting 100 and had 60 backordered on Monday.

CameraWorld told me this morning they did not know for sure when they'd get them in -- sometime in the next 7-10 days, but they couldn't guarantee when.

One of my vendors I deal with is PC Connection. They had 9 of the G-2's yesterday. Do not know what the price is though. Just passing along the information.

Have you tried phoning b&H? I found by calling that although their web site said the g2 was out of stock that they did indeed have them in stock. They said the web site was slow updating.

Try Canoga Cameras and talk with Greg. They are terrific and really care about your interests. I ordered a flash and they had a confirmation in my Email in a hour. Can't beat that. When I need advise not only does Greg offer his opinion but also has contacted the Canon rep to get more advise. Their prices are also very competitive. I also own the G2 and love it!!!! I am hot the helas of 1D though.

Try 17th Street PHoto. They have been very dependable for me--bought my E10 there and accessories. The page says they do have the G2 in stock but you have to email them for immediate reply back for current price.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I just found one at 17th Street Photo. I'll write a post after I've used it for a few weeks or so to give you my totally subjective impressions comparing it to the Nikon 5000.

Howard,

I too took back a CP5000 last week and bought a G2....I also have a Pro90 that I've had since they came out. The Nikon will be a great camera (someday) after they get all of the bugs out, but as of now it's just a mess. I couldn't get consistant results no matter what I did. People in the Nikon forum were saying adjust this and adjust that, and I say geeeez if the freakin camera can't take a pic on auto how is it suppose to work on manual. I use manual mode most of the time. You'll be very happy with the G2, like my Pro90 it just works great!

Thanks,

Stephen

I also spoke with Greg....great guy. He genuinely cares about which camera you buy and making sure that it is right for you. He also does not sell any grey market stuff, and does not charge a re-stock fee for returns.

I just received my Canon G2 from Harmony Computers (www.shopharmony.com) for $759. Shipping was free if ground. I ordered by phone Thursday, January 3, and received it today, Jan. 9. Received FedEx tracking number by email and checked on the camera's progress to delivery. US warranty and all the parts. A good experience Good luck!
