Beautiful picture, Hugh. Love the colors and they way they mirror
off of the water. Had to get up early for that one, aye? Makes a
person feel great to be alive when seeing something like that...
either in a photo or in person.

Really enjoy your photo!!
Good evening bo,

I'm very glad you like the picture. It does make getting up early worth it. It was a beautiful experience, and it is a real pleasure to share.

With appreciation,

Just "wow" hugh..

You are certainly in the right place for beautiful photography.. and you do it so well.

Progress on the web site continues.

This is another Indian River (Titusville, FL) picture.

Sorry you have to scroll in this window. As I'm sure you know, you
can click on the picture to see it in its own window. These just do
not work very well in a smaller size.

Thanks.

Georgeous shot, Hugh.

I'd like to have that, poster-sized, on the wall at home, to relax me after a bad day at work! Beautiful colors.

Hi Hugh,

OHHHHHHH MYYYYYY!!!!! I'm "breathless"! Can't seem to think of appropriate adjectives for this most beautiful of photos. Thanks so much for sharing this beauty. I sure hope all who view this photo take the time to "open it up". What a shame it would be to simply scroll this one! Curt A

Hugh,
I love the colour on this one. And definitely should be viewed full-screen.
Maybe we all should get used to the idea of supplying two image links, one

'teaser' and another for 'serious' viewing? Hmm, I'll continue the idea on the 'Dear Phil' thread ....--Jouko

Good morning Larry,

Thank you for the encouragement. Velvia is a slide film made by Fuji. It is well known for its rich color. I'm pleased you like the picture.

Good morning Chuso,

A very fine compliment indeed. As my cajun friend would say, "I must be running with the big dogs." :-).

Good morning David,

I am very flattered considering the fine pictures you've posted. If you are serious, eMail me your mailing address and I will send you a CD with a high res version you can print. For your own use only, of course :-).

Hugh,

I hadn't payed enough attention to your subject which states velvia :-). I'm definetly interested to see your D1X pictures. I'm curious how it compares to film.

Fred Miranda has indeed some fine actions on his website, I have quite few that he made for the D30. I don't have the digital velvia one, but I will have a look into it again.

I don't know of Larry's sharpening action. Can you enlighten me on this one?

Alfred
Hugh,

I'm without words...

Unbelievable shot, and what a dramatic colors! I never could think
that emptiness could be so beautifull.

What technique (specifically what whitebalance) did you use to
maintain these colors?
Good afternoon Alfred,

This is a scan from Fuji Velvia. The scanner and PhotoShop use the
sRGB ICC profile. I enhanced saturation a bit with Fred Miranda's
Digital Velvia action for PhotoShop, and sharpened with Larry's
action. That's it.

My next post will probably be D1x pictures from this session. They
are very similar in color balance.

Thank you for the compliments. I'm very pleased you like the pictures.

Good afternoon Alfred,

I hope to have several D1x pictures on my site by the end of the week. If you would like to see a wide variety, check out http://www.pbase.com/hstockton . Some of those are D1, but many are D1x.

Larry Carter, LMC54, has produced a sharpening action for the D1x. I believe he has also done one for the D30. You can eMail him using the profile available in his posts, or checked out the Chat at http://communities.msn.com/DpreviewSamplesandGalleries/chat.msnw .

I'm sure he will be there off and on this afternoon, as will I. You are welcome to drop in.

Hugh,
A beautiful one!
7/9 (originality/aesthetics) would be my rating at photo.net :)
Thanks for sharing!
Regards,
Good afternoon Andreas,

Thanks for the comment, and compliment, I think :-). I'm not familiiar with the photo.net rating system.

The sharing is certainly my pleasure. It is, in part, an effort to repay you and others for the enjoyment I have received from the pictures I seen here.

hugh,

I simply love this shot, just love it. Perhaps my favorite of all your shots, film or digital, which is saying a lot. I'll bet this looks even better printed -- when people talk about the detail of medium format, they're surely referring to shots like this.

Great job, again.
