Hello friends,

I had a good sleep tonight, just to discover in the morning that I lost all the drama that went here.

I would like to thank all those who participated in the challenge, and for those who voted. Also, my best congratulations for the winners in each of the categories.

Challenge #6 was a great success, and thank you, way, for running it up to the very last moment!

Now, after the waves of excitement have settled down, let me announce the topic of the next challenge:

! PEOPLE AT WORK !

It can be the barber in his shop, the baker next to his product, the blacksmith next to his fire or anvil, the carpenter...; any worker! This is a great opportunity to practice the indoors abilities of our cameras, as well as broad daylight potential.

I'm going to open a new gallery in a moment (if pbase is working).

About the rules: Photos will be sent in anonymously , carrying a 'secret' sender's name, for purposes of identification. Senders might be asked, after publishing the winner names, to supply the original photo of their entry.
The voting will be, though, by real names (or by 'official' user name).

Remark: I purposly did not make the rules bullet-proof (e.g., voting anonymously), as this is, I feel, against the openness and the spirit of the whole challenges.

About the other rules (mainly - last date for submitting the entry, this might be a little tricky) - those will follow.

So load you batteries, take your cameras, and ... good luck to all of you.

Congrats on your winning photo!

Excellent theme Yehuda. May i suggest that people may not have to secretly name their photo, just a photo title may suit for voting purposes.
Simular to how the votes were cast for challenge 5 for the B&W dog.

And what people may do is after the votes are cast and counted, have the following day for people to go back to their enties and tag their names on their photos. That would be a great surprise to all of us to see whos who. These are only suggestions.

Zipper,

Thank you for your input.

I noticed that several entries came without titles, so I suggested what I suggested. I agree that a title, without any name, is ok.

One more thing which has to be said: People are requested not to send in to the talkboard a copy of their entries.

I'm not sure this is feasable, as the gallery is going to be shut right at the deadline. Any idea?

I appreciate your suggestions.

well..i guess its unpreventable. Theres gonna be 100 entries for sure(based on past 3 challenges) and if no entries have names/artists attached we're all gonna be on the site tagging our photos at the same time. I say lets try your suggestion and see how it works.
I appreciate your suggestions.

Yehuda
One other thing i think you;ve missed is ..When does the challenge start and end? You didnt post any dates? Is the challenge for a week or week and a half?

Hi.

First off, congratulations Yehuda on your win. The portrait deserves all the praise it got. Lovely, lovely work.

Challenge#7, great theme. I look forward to it.

Since the theme has been announced, I took the liberty of updating the "Challenge#7 ?" logo. I left the original in there in case someone objects to the new one.

This is gonna be fun.

I just reread Yehuda's original post and realized the "official" title is "People at Work"... Ah well. I saved the image after flattening and am too lazy to redo it...

Men here is meant generically, so I hope women and politcally correct hair-splitters don't bash me too hard! (I bruise easily). :)

Others have already noted that 'Man' can imply chauvinism. Hence I phrased the title as 'People at Work'.

Things are geeting muddy.... plese set us straight.

1. When does the competition open and close?
2. When does voting begin and end?

3. Are pictures posted to be identified only by picture title but not by artist's name (until after the voting closes)?

4. May entries be posted to the Forum or not? (I recommend "not" to protect the anonymity idea)
5. How many votes in each category, and how will they be tallied?

Anything else we need to be clear on?

Congrats on your well-deserved win. Great photo! (And so many fine ones to choose among).

Well, one thing's certain, I will have to be a lot more creative this time. There are a number of things set against me: I don't have work, I have school. Currently, I don't have school, I'm on Christmas break!!! But I'm looking forward to the challenge!--SarahD

You think you've got problems! I work out of a home office and have no client meetings til January. Suck it up, Sarah! (and congrats on your many votes!)
