Yep, she's a hard core football fan...

Lighting was a medium SB camera left with louvers. Mom held some cardboard in front of it to flag off the light off the pads some, or at the very least to let it tone down some. Of course orange gel in the background. One of her girlfriends held up some foamcore camera right with a silver baffle from a SB attached to it to help fill camera right.

Regards, Phillip @ Keepsake,

No measuring angles, no crazy COI's, just plain ol photography. Tell me now, do you really see the light?

I like the pose and the backlighting, but on my screen -the side of her face in light shadow- the shadow is uneven and looks like uneven dirt on her face. Could be my monitor- could be a small file- or maybe the shadow itself..
  • Don't know. The shadow just doesn't look right.

Some words to live by....'Use as little light as possible. Start with one light and see how it looks and ask yourself, 'Do I need a fill?' If you light everything, you destroy the mood. It's always better to start out with one light source and really think about where you are going to put it. If you put up three lamps at once, you're just going to get confused.' - Chris Tribelhorn

You might have tried to put a little more light on that six-pack, and her face is insufficiently dirty. I like the gritty look. Her features are a little too fine to carry off the "kick-ass" theme, but what the hell: it's great. Thank you, and thank her.

getting light only where I wanted it. Glad I had some extra hands around the studio when doing this. The gear isn't her's BTW, ;) She's just a big football fan, and wanted something a bit different for her senior work. Quite a departure from pageant images.

Same setup, as the previous shot. The bare strobe camera right is hitting her face a bit more in this one. We dirty'd up her face and ab section, as well as wet her down.

I don't know how you keep pumping out these beautiful shots mate.

Keep up the good work.

I actually would liked to have seen her abs lit up, but that's me being picky now.

Killer shot, Phillip! Was it intentional to leave the bg light cord visible? Just curious.

Very much like it, the light, the dirt, the concept. Nice idea done well.

Actually I like the top half or a little more -- with my screen setting it was cut off just above her belly button when it first came up, and I really think it's a stronger photo that way. But she probably likes the belly, so who am I to complain.

Nice work

going to miss her. I've taken images of her for the last two years. She'll graduate in 07...

Main light - Medium SB camera right. White foamcore camera left for fill.

Most of the guys let the school photog shoot their stuff, because they don't even really want to bother with that, much less go to someone else in addition to the school tog. 99.9% of my senior work will be fem's

Great pic--love the idea!
Could insert the black marks under her eyes for a couple?

Our football stat gals (6) did the full football dress including eye black--got a serious shot of them during the gym pep fest by the wall mats, but nothing dramatic--and school dress code--no bare middle.

Hi, do you recall the setup for this one?

Someone wants me to do some outdoor stuff with them and I'm trying to figure out what I need? Did you use a light or just a reflector, or ?
